Although this New Zealand film currently still has no release date for the US, it seems that the Netherlands will be one of the first countries to get it on DVD. The steelcased two-disc special edition is supposedly getting a release in a couple weeks. Among the extras on the disc will be behind-the-scenes featurettes as well as interviews with the cast and crew. You can take a look above at the artwork for the DVD, and head over to the trailers area to view a streaming trailer. Keep an eye out for a positive review in a couple days.

It looks like the film will be getting a wide release sometime later this year thanks to 20th Century Fox acquiring the rights.

DETAILS

- The second most expensive New Zealand horror movie (The Frighteners is first), with a budget of $20 million.
- Animation Research is handling the CGI effects.
- Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (Bend it Like Beckam) is in negotiations to play the villian.
- Set to start filming soon in Dunedin, New Zealand.
- Director Glenn Standring also directed The Irrefutable Truth About Demons.

i must admit this is one of the best, if not the best vampire flick i've seen to date! Different, yet interesting theme that kept me glued to the screen! Looking forward to a sequel if there is indeed one in the works!

Even though it was only 84 minutes long it actually made a very saticisfying vampire movie, the fact that the vampires were priest were pretty cool.

While I am addicted to this film and love its original feel and take on the vampire theme, the storyline is in no way original. It is a new amalgam, I will give it that much, but it isn't the first time that this idea has been set to film. Maybe I just watch too many movies? *shrug*
As to the idea of a sequel: I thought the end of the film tended more toward a serial than a sequel. Very Dark Angel style ending. Further to that, on a more serious note, if you go to the official website and read about the schism (a fascinating little addition), this suggests to me that the future of their world was already written as part of the backstory (if you will) so putting it to film might be a matter of money rather than good taste, and I would hate to see that happen.

I thought this movie was pretty good. Hopefully, I wont ruin it for anyone when I say I liked the, I guess you could call it death scene, at the end...I thought it was original

I got this movie off of netflix. I thought it was very interesting. I actually watched it three times while I had it. It had a good storyline that no one has ever have thought of.
