Writer Stephen Susco spoke about the film some weeks back on his official site. Here's what he said: "...there are some pretty large-scale differences
between the original and the remake. While the overall tone of dread is
(or, will likely be) oppressively present, the story moves much faster
than the original. It has a much more "conventional" beginning, that leads to a more unconventional shift later in the film."

Singer-turned-actress Christina Millian will star opposite Kristen Bell in this film. She'll be playing Bell's street-smart best friend, who's into internet dating.

Actress Kristen Bell spoke with Now Playing Magazine a bit about the film. Here's what she said: "It’s a very difficult project to describe. It’s based a lot on loneliness. I was really taken by it when I had lunch with [Sonzero] and he explained to me the loneliness of this character. She’s just very stoic and frightened at the same time. I loved the idea. I never really played a punky person before; Veronica isn’t really punk, she’s just more—she has her own thing going on. I liked the way he spoke about it and the ideas he had. That’s why I joined up."

A release date has been set for the once delayed project.

It looks as though the previous report was correct, because now Variety is reporting that the film has a director attached a couple young faces added to the cast. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the early summer in Romania.

Moviehole is reporting that the film is back on track with Joel Soisson and Mike Leahy producing, and it's said to begin shooting in Romania this May. It's said that Dimension originally dropped the project because it was too similar to The Ring, but for those of us who have seen this film, we know that they are entirely two different films. Either way, this is only treated as a rumor until official word is released.

In a recent interview on his film Cursed Wes Craven revealed some small info on how he originally planned on just doing this film, but ended up ditching it and moving onto the werewolf flick, Curse. He was quoted saying... "We started with me being offered to do a remake of a Japanese film called Pulse. The usual translation was sometimes called Circuit. It's by [Kiyoshi] Kurasawa. Five weeks before shooting, Dimension pulled the plug on it. And then for one reason or another, they made us an offer that we kind of had to accept to do this film Cursed."

Rue Morgue Magazine reported that has officially been cancelled by Miramax/Dimension co-head Bob Weinstein who considered the project too similar to The Ring. Craven was quite disappointed with the news saying... "We were all terribly excited about that film and we had the rug pulled out from under us. I thought it was a brilliant movie, it just gets under your skin. I think Kurosawa is an interesting director. The way the ghosts were used, its like nothing thats ever been done before. I could see that movie in my head, it was really going to be scary and fun. Its extremely frustrating to not be able to do it."
