Resident Evil: Extinction

The film picks up where the last one left off, now with Alice hiding in the Nevada desert. Joined with Carlos Olivera and L.J., along with new survivors Claire, K-Mart and Nurse Betty, the group try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead. Since being captured by the Umbrella Corporation, Alice has been subjected to biogenic experimentation and becomes genetically altered, with super-human strengths, senses and dexterity. These skills, and more, will be needed if anyone is to remain alive.

You can check below for the pics of Alice and Claire Redfield, courtesy of IGN, who also spoke to writer Paul W. S. Anderson, who revealed the following details about the story:

"Resident Evil: Extinction is set several years in the future and it's pretty much after the Umbrella Corporation has failed to control the outbreaks of the T-Virus and the world has literally been wiped out. There's very little humanity left and a handful of human survivors are traveling around the remnants of the world in these heavily armored convoys and what they do is they go to the least populated parts of the world, because they figure that's where the least undead will be, and they travel in these heavily armored trucks and customized rolling fortresses—it's very Road Warrior--at high speed so that the undead don't get anywhere near them. So that's where the movie takes place, primarily in the deserts of Nevada and around Las Vegas. But of course, it's a Las Vegas that has kind of fallen now, because what's happened is, with no one to take care of it, the desert has come back in and half-buried Vegas."

5/24/06
Spencer Locke has been added to the cast. She'll be playing a girl found living in the ruins of a Kmart, who hopes to find a safe haven in Alaska.

5/10/06
Singer Ashanti, along with Ali Larter and Chris Egan have been added to the cast. Ali will play "Claire" who will lead a convoy across the Nevada dessert. Ashanti will play "Nurse Betty".

A couple more names have been added to the reprised cast. Also, you can check above for the plot. Thanks to Production Weekly.

3/07/06
Not much to report on except for a May production start..

2/11/06
Russell Mulcahy is set to direct with production to begin sometime in April of this year. The "Afterlife" subtitle has been dropped, and it's now uncertain whether the storyline above will remain the same, or if the mentioned fourth film will see the light of day.

11/08/05
Although we all pretty much knew this, the film has been given an official greenlight. I've also added a bit on the story above.

9/11/05
Comedian Mike Epps will be reprising his role in this film according to an interview at Blackfilm.

6/20/05
Some small plot details have been posted above. Filming begins in Australia sometime in November or December.

12/09/04
Resident Evil 2 director Paul W. S. Anderson spoke with Now Playing Magazine recently about what's going on with another sequel. He pretty much stated that it's still in talks, but it will most likely happen since the second did relatively better at the box office than the first.

He then went on about how invisioned the films to be a trilogy, saying: "I always had a vision for a trilogy of films, and the way I imagined it was that the first movie would be a prequel to the video games, the second movie would be set in the same timeframe as the video games, specifically Resident Evil: Nemesis, and then the third movie I always saw as kind of a sequel, or a postscript, to the video games, set slightly after the time of the video games. So it's something I would definitely like to do. But we're still kind of in negotiations. But there's definitely a will to make the movie, that's for sure."
