LATEST NEWS

5/24/07
If you're expecting to catch this flick June 1st you better hope you live near Phoenix, Seattle or Minneapolis, because that's apparently the only cities that'll get it via a theatrical release. Otherwise, expect a DVD release later this year. Thanks to Shock.

4/28/07

A link to view the trailer is now available.

4/20/07
Another new clip has been added to the trailers area. Thanks to STYD.

4/02/07
I've added a handful of new pics in the gallery, courtesy of Ropeofsilicon.com. Also, if you weren't able to catch the first clip of the film after it was removed from YouTube, I now have an alternate link in the trailers area, which also seems to be slightly longer than the one posted before.

3/27/07
Although the previous lezzy clip with Lucy Liu and Carla Cugino has been removed, another one has surfaced. In this nearly 2-minute clip we witness Lucy Liu as she first wakes up in the morgue. Check it out in the trailers area before it's removed like the last one! Also, Coming Soon is reporting a limited June 1st release date.

3/21/07
UPDATE: The clip has since been removed.
If you head over to the trailers area you'll find an uncut clip of Lucy Lui and Carla Gugino in some lesbo vampire action. The clip contains nudity (although low-res and blurry), so it's not office or school friendly. The clip will most likely be removed once the studios find out about it being leaked online, so it's best to view it ASAP if you're going to view it at all. There's currently still no official release for the film, but you can catch the premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in NY between April 25th and May 6th.

3/18/07
I've added a few pics for the film, which can be seen via the link on your left. Thanks to Beyondhollywood.com.

11/03/05
I've added the site from Ghosthouse Films. In it you can view a brief "webisode", which is a teaser that features various behind-the-scenes stuff that will appear on the site in the upcoming months.

8/10/05
Entertainment Online was on the set for the film and spoke with actress Lucy Lui and rocker Marilyn Manson, whose cameo role in the movie was finally revealed to be a bartender. You can see a couple pics below of Manson out of make-up and sportin' a goatee. Click here to read the report watch footage of the visit.

Also director Sabastian Gutierrez spoke some time ago to Fango about the project, saying: "The story itself is very simple, but it’s told in a non-linear fashion,” he tells Fango. “And hopefully, it has a very nightmarish and relentless quality. It’s very bleak noir, like John Boorman’s POINT BLANK."

He then added... "we don’t want to go into an Anne Rice Gothic/romantic terrain, or an UNDERWORLD/Ridley Scott sort of thing. I’m not knocking those movies, because they’ve all been done very well, but we’re trying to do something that’s more like a modern-day noir. It’s very stylized, because it’s horror—all the colors are very saturated. We’re keeping away from the usual look you see in these movies, which is that steely-grey, industrial sort of thing. It’s also very decadent and sexual,”

7/27/05
Writer/director Sabastian Gutierrez spoke with the guys at CHUD recently about the project, where he revealed various details. When asked whether it took place mostly at night, his reply was: "No, there are a lot of flashbacks, it takes place over a year, but the present tense is over two days. It’s all out of order, a very non-linear fashion, the notion that it’s this very sort of nightmarish, relentless recurring thing – she keeps waking up in these claustrophobic spaces. Hopefully it won’t be too confusing, but it should be disorienting. We want it to all feel like a fever dream. It’s definitely not one of those movies where none of it happened, though."

He then went on to reveal a little more on the plot... It is a vampire movie, but the word itself is never mentioned. Lucy plays this character who’s a reporter investigating them, and it’s not even that she went in too deep, it’s more that these guys got the wrong idea and grabbed her. To me what’s scary is when you can’t talk yourself out of a situation. She’s saying “I don’t know who you are and I don’t want anything to do with you,” and still they kill her and leave her for dead, or undead. Not to give too much away. That’s where the story begins. At its most basic premise it’s a revenge story, she has a list of people who did it to her and she hunts them down one by one, not unlike Kill Bill.

7/21/05
Cameron Richardson has been added to the cast. She will be playing a girl whose kidnapped by Lucy Lui's character. Cinescape also reports that singer Marilyn Manson will have an undisclosed role in the film.

7/04/05
I've added James D'Arcy and Japanese veteran actor Mako to the cast. The film is currently shooting in LA.

6/08/05
Cinescape is reporting that Carla Gugino (Sin City) will star in the film as the leader of an undead cult that Lucy Lui's character hunts down.

5/21/05
Actor Michael Chiklis (The Sheild) will be starring opposite Lucy Lui.

4/06/05
Recent reports indicate that actress Lucy Lui may be signed on as the lead.

a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BORING MOVIE! Lucy Liu. a reporter who gets kidnapped by a cult of vampires. Ms. Lucy is turned. she is freed though after. wakes up in a morgue. decides to have revenge! similar to the pilot episode of Blade: the Series. specifically, the character of Krista Starr. back to RISE: Ms. Liu then becomes a vampire-vigilante. hunting & killing one-by-one the vamps. in the end, she wins. LUCY LIU! Rumors Say That A Sequel Is Already Planned. But SERIOUSLY! Other Than This Stupid Story, Rise: Blood Hunter Did Not Offered Anything Good! IT WAS GARBAGE! ARE YOU JOKING?

Vampires without fangs are not vampires. Innocent Blood kept much of the genre intact, but I did not much care for it without the fangs. You gotta keep the fangs. Fangs. THE FANGS! fangs...!

I had heard "middle of the fence" things about this movie. So I was suprised when I found I really enjoyed this flick. Sort of original take on the vampire. Fright was right when he said its basically a revenge flick. But its an enjoyable one. I liked how the vampires were only slightly more powerful than humans. I would like to see a sequal to this, but I doubt it'll happen now.
