Return of the Living Dead 5: Rave From the Grave

Uncle Charles is killed by one of his test subjects during an underground transaction to get rid of the Trioxyn-5. The kids that made it out alive from Necropolis (now in college) return and are not too much wiser for their experience. They find a canister of Trioxyn-5 and try to figure out what it is. Knowing that it probably had something to do with Uncle Charles' experiments, Julian and his new friend Jenny have the brains to be cautious where as the other kids see it as a new party drug and an opportunity to make some quick cash.
As the drug becomes more and more popular and Halloween approaches, kids are partying and overdosing on "Z". This turns hundreds of innocent costumed college students into brain thirsty zombies. It all culminates at a huge rave put on by Jenny's brother Jeremy. Zombies mistaken for costumes and two Interpol agents that are more harm than help all add to the hilarity and horror that ensues.

Not sure why the official site doesn't mention anything about the films premiering on the SciFi channel this October, but further proof can be found at the SciFi site (link on left).

You can check the new poster art above. Also the new "theatrical" trailer is up.

It seems like even the "official site" is out of the loop, as BD got word that the two sequels will be playing back-to-back on the SciFi Channel on October 15th.

Fango has verified what I suspected -- the film will be getting a limited theatrical release over the country. It will be getting a "wide" release in Chicago, Seattle, Detroit, Atlanta and Phoenix and limited release in New York and Los Angeles. Since this movie is said to get a release before the Necropolis, it's likely the number in the title will be dropped.

According to Fango this and the previous film are getting distributed by indie company Freestyle Releasing. The official site is also reporting an October 7 theatrical release, although whether it's the release for both films is up for question. Freestyle Releasing also handled the theatrical release for Riding the Bullet, which only got a limited run to around 100 screens before it premiered on the USA channel and went direct-to-video shortly after. So whether this is getting a limited then direct-to-video release is also up for question.

A zombie extra from the film wrote up an article in an online zine called telegraph.co.uk, where he talks about his day on set getting ready to shoot a scene. He also reveals small details on the film as well as the 4th; then says how Rave wont get a release until 2006. You can check a before and after pic of him turning into a zombie. Check it here.
