LATEST NEWS

12/16/06
A trailer has finally appeared online along with another poster (above).

9/01/06
Incase you missed it, I posted an interview with director Bill Dear (found here) where he revealed various details on what to expect. Here are some tidbits from the interview:

For the gore-hounds out there -- how is the film in terms of blood and gore?

Gore hounds rejoice! I promise you will see things you have never seen before. "Death by Doobie", "Best way to stop a speeding Van “, ” Locust-like wave of Pick-axes". And the ultimate treat when “Simon puts his foot down".

So who really is this Simon character?

Simon is a very confused person who finds the peace or abject horror he craves by giving in to the inner demons who haunt his past with nightmarish memories of murder, rejection and unspeakable acts... or is that his brother Stanley?

Speaking of the Simon sequel, I heard the film was part of a planned trilogy, can you talk a bit about that?

A sequel is in the works, with a definite opening for more to come. Although it is not formally structured as a trilogy, the end of "Simon Says" (#1) only hints at what's to come when Simon's "evil seeds" are planted and more than promises that there will be more parts, more blood and more surprises

What's the current status of the film at the moment?

The current status of "Simon Says" is that it will have it's World Premiere at Ain't It Cool News's Fantastic Fest in Austin Texas along with a revival showing of a very early (horror?) film of mine called "Northville Cemetery Massacre". We are actively searching out the distributor who "gets" what we have here, both in "Simon Says" and the commitment of Dark Moon Pictures to deliver quality motion pictures that cross lines, kick ass and take our viewers to that "magic" place and beyond.

Read more here.

If you look above you'll notice a new poster that was drawn by legendery movie-poster artist Drew Struzan. The poster was commissioned by director William Dear, but it's too early to determine whether it'll actually be used. Thanks to Fango.

6/01/06
Another poster can be seen on the top right.

4/27/06
If you direct your attention above, you will see a couple promotional posters for the film. You can expect more updates on the film soon.

3/25/06
Apparently the film is still in post-production, as it seems that the sound mix has just been finished and it's in its "final review" stages. The official site's link is up, but currently not active. In the mean time you can check a logo for the film here.

2/24/06
A scooper sent over some new set-pics, which show a bit more of the cast. You can check'em below. Meanwhile, the status of the project is being kept under wraps for one reason or another, but it should be done with post-production by now.

8/10/05
I've got a new still of the young cast posted below courtesy of actress Margo Harshan's official site.

7/04/05
I've been sent a handful of new pics, which can be found below. If you're wondering why the quality isn't very good, it's because they're screenshots taken from actual footage during the editing process.

6/20/05
The film is currently in the post-production stages, and UHM has a handful of on-set photos when filming was still goin' down. You can check the pics at the bottom. If you're wondering what's going on in'em -- the first pic is of Crispin Glover watching as a stunt goes down. The second is where *SPOILER* Simon's father is stabbed *END SPOILER* The third is a pic of Simon's truck. The last four are of the main female cast (Margo Harshman, Carrie Finklea, Kelly Vitz). Nothing too exciting, but interesting none-the-less. Some official photos should be out shortly. After post is done the film will go to festivals in hopes of getitng picked up by a distributor.

6/03/05
I've posted a brief and somewhat vague synopsis above, and here's a little bit on the characters and further info on the project: Riff and Kate, the handsome “perfect” couple, are off on their first weekend away together. Riff makes no qualms about telling everyone that this is his time to score. The sensuous party girl Vicky is bound and determined to wreck that train. Ashley, an exotic James Bond type beauty, is a designer's doll in her Rodeo Drive pink running gear, constantly battling with Zack. Zack is a dyed-in-the-wool slacker who becomes the most unlikely of heroes.

Their encounter with Simon (Glover) launches a roller coaster ride of non-stop action and terror that turns and twists to the most unlikely conclusion possible. Written and directed by William Dear (Angels in the Outfield) Simon Says looks to be the next great franchise to come to the screen in a long time. The locations are breath taking. The cast is stunningly beautiful and remarkably talented. The Special Effects (Sota FX) and Stunt work are shocking, and the humor and ingenuity in screenwriting leave very little to chance in this action ride.

5/21/05
I've added a handful of new people to the cast. Filming has begun already in Northern California.

As usual Crispin Glover (Mr. Willard) played quite great on his double role. It has some cool & creative killing scenes. You'll enjoy the flick...believe me.

I've done a lot of reviews in the past, where I would give a flick mostly positive comments, but still give it a 6-rating, which isn't a low rating, in my opinion. It just shows that it had the potential of being a very good movie, but had a thing or two that I felt could have used more work on. In this case, I felt it dragged on a bit too long after the hour-mark. Despite the rating, it's still an otherwise good watch.

Why such a low rating if you liked it so much?
