The Beacon
Revolves around a thirty-something woman grieving over the loss of her 4-year-old son, where she and her husband move into the charming old Beacon Apartments. There, she begins to see a boy who died in a fall down the Beacon's elevator shaft while trying to escape his abusive father. With the help of an eccentric young professor, the woman tries to save the boy's spirit.

I had a quick Q&A with actress Elaine Hendrix recenttly, who dropped some details on her character "Vanessa Carver" and how she got involved. Here's what she had to say:
What attracted you to the project and what were your initial reactions to the script? My assistant is a HUGE horror fan and has been trying to get me into the genre for a while. However, when it comes to horror or anything scary, I am a HUGE baby. When the opportunity for ‘The Beacon’ came up, he had the offer accepted before I could even read the script. :) He is already talking about my NEXT horror project which he wants to be even darker. GULP
How do you feel this project differs from previous films that dealt with a similar theme? I researched different movies to prepare for the role as well as the overall tone of the flick. It took a combination of movies to achieve what I was looking for. For example, one had the right pacing, while another had the right character arc , and yet another one had similar horror elements, etc. I watched films like ‘Suspira’, ‘The Others’, and ‘Interview with the Vampire’.
Can you tell us more about your character "Vanessa Carver". She is a former Hollywood Starlet who now makes her living online. She has some serious attitude towards almost everyone in her building, like ‘Brynn’ (Teri Polo), but has a soft spot for ‘Paul’ (David Rees Snell). Basically, she is not the most ethical or selfless individual you could come across. She’s a great gal. :)
How has filming down in Dallas, TX been thus far? AMAZING! We are staying and filming at the same place in Waxahachie, TX - The Historic Rogers Hotel. Ironically, The Rogers is known for being HAUNTED (Google It!) So far I have had three “experiences” and we are only half done. My stories could be separate horror movies on their own but I will say this, I am DEFINITELY A BELIEVER!
Lastly, if there's anything else you'd like to add about yourself or the project then please don't hesitate. First, I have an incredible scream (if I do say so myself). Sadly, I don’t get to show my full “scream range” in this film, but hope to still become a whole new icon amongst “Scream Queens”. Second, and most important, I really hope that horror fans like this movie. If it’s not good, I will probably need a new assistant.
