I loved Davids movie, I think the remake could be creepy and very gory if done right. Remakes can be good if done well, and I think this movie, if casted well will be a blockbuster. If I'm not mistaken, David gave a good blessing for the remake, and I heard they are making another "The Fly"...we'll see what happens. Long live Horror

I normally don't condone name-calling as it is childish and stupid, but I thought it necessary to point out the idiocy of Justin's argument. I only used the words he called me or Jon. Sorry if I offended you, frightie.

For future reference, lets leave the name-calling out of the comments.

No, Justin, you're the moron. I don't know whether or not you're talking about me or Jon but whatever. A remake isn't nearly as hard as COMING UP WITH YOUR OWN ORIGINAL CONCEPT AND PUTTING IT ON THE SCREEN. Any moron can take an original film concept, add a few extra scenes and make it their own. David Cronenberg came up with this idea, wrote the screenplay and directed his unique vision and only David Cronenberg could execute his vision to its full brilliance. If they change or add things it wouldn't do anything to make it "better." Do you seriously think the new Hitcher or Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween had anything intelligent to say? No. Maybe Halloween added stuff but Rob Zombie missed the point of what makes Michael Myers interesting and scary: the mystery behind his character. John Carpenter already made Halloween scary because he recognized it's potential to be scary and utilized every element possible. The only remakes that I believe are valid are ones which take a movie like The Fly or The Thing from Another World, films which are radically different from their fascinating remakes: The Fly (yet again, David Cronenberg) and The Thing. David Cronenberg recognized that the concept in the original The Fly had not yet reached its potential for being scary and interesting. In his remake, he did justice to the concept. IF AN ORIGINAL MOVIE ALREADY ACHIEVES WHAT IT DESIRES TO ACHIEVE IN A VERY EFFECTIVE WAY THEN WE DO NOT NEED A REMAKE. Remakes in this sense are utterly useless. Directors should come up with something original and new instead of copping out behind your stupid excuse. Maybe you should shut your mouth.

opposite to those nay-sayers I say yay! The brood is a pretty well known film, but hey, it never really was that good! making a remake in this case is a good thing, takin a half-crappy flick making it in to a good one... well, isn't that what remakes are good for?

The tool below me has no clue what he is talking about the hardest thing for any director or writer to do is to do a remake because you have to stay true to the original but you have to add things that make it your own, and if you can do that from the remakes of The Hitcher Texas Chainsaw Massacre or Halloween all 3 of the directors earned my respect because it is very hard to make a remake and they all pulled it off, just look at any horror remake they all stay similar to the original but all bring something of their own to the show so this moron beneath me should shut his mouth.

This is a disgrace, how could they do this to one of Cronenberg's greatest and most original film? There's no way that they could replace Oliver Reed as an actor. This is a stupid and ridiculous idea. I'm sure the remake will use CGI as well. This is one of the worst remake ideas I've heard of in a long time.
