LATEST NEWS

8/13/07
Writer, director, and actress Julie Delpy spoke with MTV recently, revealing that Ethan Hawke has been replaced by William Hurt. Also, sounding less and less like horror (the movie will be removed from the UHM database if it proves to be more drama than horror, which it seems to be so far), Delpy describes the film as a "romantic drama with a hint of a thriller".

This could be a cool movie, but I'll have a problem with it if it isn't true to her life story. She did NOT bathe in the blood of virgins, she kidnapped many girls (working her way from peasants to aristocrats) and tortured them. She wasn't sentenced to death either, she was locked up in her rooms within her castle until the day she died. A film detailing the real events of her life would probably never be distributed though, the MPAA would freak out.

there was a movie about Ed Gein that was more of a drama then a horror, i hope they don't do the same to this

Hopefully it does prove to be more horror or "thriller" than drama.

it is naive to the think that his movie might be a drama. one of the most notorious muderers of all time a drama? impossible, maybe a side love story or womenly struggle or something stupid to attract a more broad audience. this would be a badass movie if its going to be based solely on Elizabeth Báthory i agree with everyone else but lets wait and see if hollywood will kill it first before we start trashing it : )

I would MUCH rather see something based on the real Erzsébet [or Elizabeth] Báthory. Way more terrifying then bathing in the blood of virgins.

Actuallly the character from Stay Alive was based on Elizabeth Bathory's infamous historical image. So to say the chick from Stay Alive is not accurate.

Elizabeth Bathory was a Hungarian countess who lived in the Èachtice Castle near Trenèín, in Royal Hungary, in present-day Slovakia, relative of king of Poland and prince of Transylvania, Stefan Batory. She is considered the most infamous serial killer in Hungarian and Slovak history. Some times the real deal is better than the fictive
