Director Rupert Wainwright spoke with SciFi Wire about the fog that will be represented in the film and how it'll have different versions throughout the movie. Here's what he said: "We have all these different versions of fog. The angry fog is, there's [three] guys with pump foggers, ... and they have lights on like this, and they blast it, and they come running towards you. And the fog is so thick that it turns black, but the lights inside kind of illuminate it. And it literally looks like a cloud has come down. It's coming out and attacking you. So that's angry fog. Then we have sneaky fog. Sneaky fog is way off behind a bush or something, and it sort of comes tumbling down the hill. And it's dry ice mixed with steam." Lastly he went on to say how there will be a "grumpt fog" that doesn't do anything, but sit there for 60% of the time. This guy sure knows his fogs. You can also read an interesting set report for the film here.

Coming Soon got to talk with the stars and director Rupert Wainwright about the film, where they revealed various bits of information. Director Rupert Wainwright was quoted saying: "A lot of this movie is really about the heritage of the town… And here one of the things we really focus on is the sort of nexus of the past and present. How the past came back basically to destroy the present because of what happened then".
Actress Selma Blair was quoted with the following about her character: "This was from Stevie's accident. She get's into an accident. She's in the fog trying to save the son. Get out of the fog. I'm coming home. Car. Inside. Stall. Hit. I can't talk about the rest. It's too painful. Was I not suppose to say that Rupert? I'm going to look worse by the end of the day now".
Producer and original writer/director John Carpenter had a recent interview for the film, which can be viewed here. In it he talks about how not a lot will change story-wise and how it will feature another young cast that will appeal to a younger auience (hence the PG-13 rating); much like what a lot of remakes are doing now-a-days.

Empire Online spoke with director Rubert Wainwright recently about the film, saying: "We’re being really hard on ourselves, so the end product will provide exactly what the audience wants, not just in terms of shocks and scares and special effects, but in terms of good writing and good performances. If you don’t have nuanced, believable characters you can actually care about, why would you give a shit what happens to them? It’s true to the spirit of the original, but it’s pretty different. We’ve got some pretty major surprises, and I don’t think horror fans are going to be disappointed."
He also added: “It’s true to the spirit of the original, but it’s pretty different. We’ve got some pretty major surprises, and I don’t think horror fans are going to be disappointed."
