DETAILS

- Produced once again by Ghost House Pictures.
- Brad Keene (The Gravedancers) is scripting.
- Toby Wilkins is an FX artist who made his directorial debut with the upcoming film Splinter.
- Japanese actors Takako Fuji and Yuya Ozeki will not reprise their roles as the mother-and-son ghosts in this film, making it the first one in the entire series to not feature them.
- This would be the first film in the Grudge series that Takashi Shimizu is not directing. He has directed the first two Japanese films, Ju-On and Ju-On 2. Then went on to do the Japanese remakes, Ju-On: The Grudge, and Ju-On: The Grudge 2. Lastly, he remade them once again for the US.
- The obvious third film in US Grudge trilogy that was remade from his own films by creator Takashi Shimizu.

This series absolutely baffles me! Why these films are scary are a total mystery to me and I don't understand why they continue to make them other than to cash in on the mis-guided success of the first two!
How pale girls with hair in front of their faces are scary I'll never know, but I do know one thing, I'll never watch another Japanese Horror Film(JHF) again after seeing these poorly thought out, unconvincing mess of movies!

@ josh:
the second one keep cutting from place to place because those scenes happened in different time period.
the one with Aubrey was after Karen "burn" down the house.
the one with the schoolgirls was was it after 2 years not sure but yah
then the family in the US that got the curse is when one of the schoolgirl went back home to US.
the movie is meant to make you guess. because they dont want the movie to be predictable.
and i guess that its a unique style of directing.
in my taste.
i like it that ways because i want to guess wats going on and see if my prediction is right at the end. but then again im always wrong. lol.

Dude, seriously...tell me three good reasons why this crappy movie is good and I'll take back everything I've said bad about it.
But until then...you are seriously dilluted by friend.

i dont know why everyone says there crap films. the first one was great
ok! i'll agree the second wasn't as good due to the fact that it kept cutting from place to place. but the third one should be good.

I have some constructive critisicm. But it's not really constructive and its more critisicm.
Blah man, you say that it is in the suspense the movie gets you. But, thinking I was unfair on my last posts, I watched the original again and I still find nothing about the movie that I liked.
Suspense?! What suspense?! I seriously watched this suck-fest, REALLY hoping I'd like it, but there was absolutely no suspense. The movie jumped around too much from where the story began, to before the woman started living in the house...oh and by the way, what self-respecting realator would sell a house to someone if he sees a little boy drowning that really isn't there. Wouldn't that be a persons first clue the house is fucked up? This, I might add, is where I completely lost interest.
Anyway, the movie skipped too much in time and all of a sudden there not in a time at all. Sarah M. Gellar is just walking around the house seeing incoherant scenes from nothing, and then she's ALL OF A SUDDEN with her boyfriend and this poorly constructed/designed little girl tries to rip her eyes out. This is the point where I realized the movie was just down right pitiful.
I don't exactly LOVE Japanese horror animation but the animation with the girl and such in this film looked downright ridiculous and shotty.
And by the end of the movie I couldn't hardly BELIEVE Sarah M. Gellar, probably the greatest horror movie actress since Heather Langenkamp, got involved with this crapfest of a movie.
I'm not a real critic of Japanese horror movies, in fact The Messengers was very well done, but this movie lost my attention from the start and the logic used made ABSOLUTELY no sense what so ever.
I really just wish this movie was still in talks cause the writers might've had a chance to see they can only get worse with this series but since they are already scripting I guess it's too late to deprive the world of another senseless horror movie mess.

Listen, if you actually took time to read some authentic japanese folklore and mythology you would realize that these movies have more to offer than what you are expecting from being molded by american movies. No explosions? Not enough Gore? that doesnt mean its not scary. lol
Its in the suspense where takashi shimizu gets you. I am only worried about the third movie because shimizu will not be directing. I think most people went to see these movies hoping to jump like it was gonna be freddy or jason attacking them lol. there is more spookiness to a fragile woman ghost who can mess you up more than any machete.
If dated some of them. well Lets not be so negative about movies that you arent really into. be creative in your judgments and criticism.

I agree with anon. these movies really aren't the best ones out there and the whole "in China/Japan" doesn't make sense to me either. I've seen both of them and they really aren't that scary...unless a persons scared of a blue girl that gurgles in her throat every five seconds.
Like my opinion matters....but I don't think that people are gonna see the third one unless their true fans of the original...those who didn't like it, well, lets just say we might have a riot.

All the people on the last page just seem to be bitchin' about the movies, but why would you insist on commenting on a film that you don't even like that much...I could understand if you HATED the movie..but I mean do you just moan about any movie thats poor, cause I am guessing you dont have much time on your hands!....I find the movies, and specifically the story quite scary, though I had to laugh in the second ju on when the curse came out of her virgina HAHAHA....but yeah I am really looking forward to the 3rd one! =D

I just watched the first one last night and i was not impressed at all. The movie wasn't really scary and the shotty Japanese horror animation just looked unorignal and stupid. Why did this take place in Japan again when they had Sarah Gellar, who is AMERICAN, playing the lead. It could have just been the same if the movie had taken place in New York or out in the country or something.
The first really confused me and I'm wondering if this series is the equivatent of the SAW movies. They just keep making 'em.

...making a (VERY bad) sequel to a (iffy) remake doesn't work...so why on earth would they make a third?
..my god when will it end? please put me out of my misery now -_-

They just need to let this movie die! The first one wasn't bad it had its moments, but the second one WTF!? Made no sense at all and was utterly pointless. Just leave this pointless piece of crap alone.
