| ![]() The film follows Laura, who as a child spent time in the Good Shepherd Orphanage before being adopted. For her the orphanage was not a horror house but the dearest refuge, where she had a half-dozen close friends her age, and which she recalls so fondly that after her marriage to a nice doctor, Carlos, she persuades him that they should buy the place and make it their home. I usually can't stand sub-titles but this movie was worth it, 10 minutes in and I barely noticed. I loved this movie mainly because i really didn't know what to expect the whole way through. It was a fresh take on a ghost story FINALLY. And the ending actually made me tear up a bit. LOVED IT.
Keep in mind that del Toro only produced it.
I thought Guillermo Del Toro couldn't possibly top Pan's Labyrinth, but I was wrong. This movie had me absolutely twisted with suspense, I love the fact that he never goes for the direct BOO! scare, but really lets the terror of the situation sink in. Amazing movie, one of the best I've seen in a long time, so good it's becoming part of my collection today.
If this movie can't garner a 9 or a 10 I can't imagine what kind of standards this site has. This movie had everything great in an actual horror movie. It was beautifully made, was tense, scary, disturbing, and probably the best movie I have seen in quite some time. Check it out
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant! One of the best films I have ever seen! Tense, terrifying, and tremendously heartbreaking! I saw this at a local art house theater and rushed out to rent it when it was released at the local video shop. I just finished watching this on DVD and already I want to watch it again! Mesmerizing, hauntingly beautiful and gut wrenchingly sad! Definitely see this movie! A+ to infinity!
