In 2010 see Michael Myers in 3D!
Well it looks like the Weinstein's are already in development of a third Halloween movie, this time they're aiming for it be done in 3D. I guess they blame the mediocre box office performance of Halloween II on the fact that The Final Destination was available in 3D, which generally costs a few more bucks per ticket.
Writer/director Rob Zombie won't be returning for Halloween 3D, but the studio already has their eyes set on a currently unnamed genre director, whom they said will also offer a "different take" on the series (again). This shouldn't really come as a surprise to us fans considering the past sequels were all mostly done by different directors.

I for one loved Halloween 2, H2 was one of the best horror films i have seen in a long, long time. It was the most violent epic i have seen since "Cannibal Holocaust" I am a gore-hound and if the series continues down this path i for one will be there to follow.
And to everyone who hates on Rob Zombie's Films, you can go back to your parents house, let them spoon feed you the rest of the vomit that hollywood spews forth, I bet all of you little puke stains loved Inglourios Basterds huh? you fucking shills. I for one appreciate a good horror movie when i see it, all of you sissies can go back and watch "Twilight" again you little cry babies.
I am genuinely amused by the backlash bandwagon to the new 3D process. Seriously, is this happening already? Some people will bitch about anything and jump on any bandwagon that comes around just for the sake of fitting in with a bunch of fanboys they don't even know in real life. You people seriously need to get out of your parents' basements once in a damn while... and not just for ComiCon or AmpGard.
it wasn't the final destinations fault halloween 2 didn't make much box office, it's because it was pretty dredful! why do studio's keep giving rob zombie money to make movies! he has a crap festish! but when a studio is going to give you money to put your crap out for everyone to see i guess your going to do it! just my opinion guys and gals, don't have a cow!
Halloween 3-D will rule! Todd Farmer is scripting so I have all faith that he will do it justice!
this 3-d movement is going too far. my bloody valentine was good and that is where it should have stopped. too make halloween 3-d is just blasphemy.
Okay this better not have anything to do with the original Halloween 3 because it actually sucked. This needs to be the original Halloween 4 with a changed title.
According to Deadline Hollywood the 3D Halloween has been put on the backburner because Bob Weinstein realized they were rushing to get it out for next year. Halloween II will be released in select theaters in October though.
Considering this wont be a remake but a new story has me excited. The original H3 Season of the witch had nothing to do with Michael Meyers. So I always considered Halloween 4 part 3. So bring on the new version of Halloween. Rob did a good job but I think a new director for a new story is a smart move. Bring back the nut case.
I am a big Halloween fan (simply due to the original first two) but wasnt too keen on RZ's re-visioning, very overated to be honest. Am quite keen on seeing what another director can do with it, although I'm finding it hard to get excited after the last two.
I've read reviews for Halloween II, gotten reviews of it from friends, and I've even read the movie spoiler. I'm still not convinced that this was Zombie's best film. The first Halloween was pretty good, but the second is subpar. I'm not sure if I'd pay money to see this movie in 2010 and the fact that it'll be on the 3D bandwagon makes me not want to see this even more.
HONESTLY after seeing the previews for the second made me a little eeehh about watching it. it even reminded me of friday the 13th.his 'mommy' made him do it
I could not be more thrilled about this new film. Not being in 3d but the simple fact that Mr.Zombi will not have anything to do with it. He's a very ceative film maker with a interesting vision but his style does not work in a halloween film.
so rock on horror geeks and freaks
I'm okay with this since it is a different director.
Wtf what's the point if Rob Zombie's not doing it? Sure, 3-D would be cool, but Zombie really took the series in a new, creative direction. If he's not doing a third, I say just leave it at the second and put Halloween aside as FINISHED. It's a classic, don't keep ruining it!!
I totally agree.
halloween 2 was alright i liked it but did not like the way they took it but in all it was a ok halloween

I want Michael Myers to have a new mask this time.
And please I would love to hear the myers theme before the end credits as well.
its all about the mask i agree
I think there is something wrong with you...
I personally loved H2. it brought more realism to the series making Michael Myers a savage psychopath as opposed to an unstoppable killing machine that can survive fires and \multiple gunshot wounds and what not. *despite he survived a magnum shot at pointblank to the face i wish zombie would of made that a little more realistic its a fucking magnum for christsakes. for once we got to see how he survived in the inbetween time which was nice. the evolution of the character was brilliant and the idea of not making him wear the mask all the time was awesome. the only way i believe H3 could work is to realistically bring the character back and go deeper into his mind and all that fun stuff instead of focusing on the other lame characters. we get it you've been scarred by traumatic events i am so sorry, but What goes on in Michaels head is way more interesting than what goes on in yours.
The reason is regardless of what Hollyweird does, people are going to bitch. Doing Halloween in 3-D for next year is a day late and a dollar short. I LOVE this movie and the series old and new, but again...the 3-D thing will be too late. I agree, this should NOT be made.
Even when they do come up with new ideas...Saw, Cloverfield, The Decent, etc., what do people do...bitch and complain. It's human nature.
Beings as how we have all this technology to really make these movies good, scary, and much more intense, I don't see a problem at all with bringing back some of the really good classics (Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, Hellraiser, Last House on the Left, etc.). I do however have a huge problem with trying to make movies more "kid" friendly (PG-13). This is far beyond stupid! The Fog was a classic case of a good movie remade very badly. What could have been made scarier and more intense, was done mostly to push new and up and coming actors. Big mistake. I am sure there are more that I haven't mentioned.
The reason I love the new Halloweens and new Friday the 13th so much is the sheer intensity and brutality. Good, brutal horror movies done the way they should have been done, rated R. The new Jason totally kicked all of the older Jasons asses by a long shot btw, and the same with Taylor Mane playing Michael. I hope to God that the new Nightmare on Elmstreet is brutal as fuck!
The new directors need to keep this in mind. Make the movie the way they should be made, for the true horror fans, not to push new little starlets.
This movie needs to be stopped!
I agree with one point you make, people always whine "Why can't Hollywood do something new" then when they get it, they fucking bitch about it, cause it's not the same.
one thing i disagree with is that this film doesn't need to be made. I Really wanna see this, what RZ did with the first 2 was pure gold, he took an old outdated movie and made it cool again. and i hope this new director takes it even further in a new direction, mabye drop the Michael character all together, i would like to see what happens with Laurie in this next installment, that's where the intrest lies with me.
i agree with no more pg-13 horror!!!! enough of that shit.
rob zombie took brutality to a whole new level, the killings are great.
I'm going sick of this remakes!
One after another. Why do they not just leave the good old movies be and concentrate their ideas for NEW MOVIES which no one has ever seen before.
I am curious as to if this is going with the big screen twilight zone idea of the original, or a continuation of the story with micheal. I though Zombie was going for the former, 2 movies with michael, that's how it was originally planned. Gah, I really was hoping this was OVER!
they are already looking at the scenerio as basically the whole h2 thing was in lauries head...they shouldnt do it and if they bring back michael it would destroy it all....zombie made halloween 1 and 2 to perfection...a lot of people can bash h2 all they want....it was brilliant..they showed his human side more as a monster...very well done....LEAVE H3D ALONE....DONT TOUCH IT
I think this is stupid! Rob Zombie did a perfect job with the remake of H1 & H2, and the H2 ended so perfect. I think it would be extremely dumb to bring it back for a third and in 3D!? I know the 3D thing is awesome but find another story and don’t stretch out these sequels to already great movies! And who ever is going to write and direct better do a good job, because Rob is amazing. I bet they asked Rob Zombie to do another and he decide because he knew it would be stupid! Also (spoiler) Michael was stabbed in the head at the end of H2 (spoiler) How will they bring him back in a none cheesy way? Hmmm, this should be interesting.
