UHM turns 18 years old today!!

Today is June 24th, which marks UHM's 18th year online! And also means it's time to finally move outta the 'rent's house, because it's now officially an adult!

Like I say every year, it's crazy to believe UHM has been up and running this long and especially crazy to think that I've been running it for essentially half my lifetime (damn I feel old).

I find myself looking back often at how much has changed in the near two decades. Not only with the site, but the genre in general. This time 18 years ago the teen horror fad was finally starting to die down after being revitalized in the mid-90s by movies like Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer. By '99 we started seeing a more variety of film like The Sixth Sense and The Blair Witch Project, which had many fooled into believing it was real, by the way.

It feels good to have grown up alongside some of you readers out there that may have been visiting since the early days and seeing how the site has changed. I thank you all, whether you've been here all this time or you just happened to stumble onto the site today--you're here and that's that matters, so again, THANK YOU!!

And now to go over some things as we finish up the rest of the year...

CURRENT UPDATES:
First off I'd like to address the current updates occurring at odd intervals and a lack of reviews being posted than normal. That's actually more on a personal level and not related to the coming changes, as we've recently welcomed a new addition to my family (2-months old now), so my schedule is a little out of whack at the moment. As you can guess, it'll be a bit before updates occur at normal times again, but rest assured I'm doing my best to update the site as fast and as often as possible.

SITE CHANGES AHEAD:
Expect a number of changes as we progress through the year. Specifically, there will be a much-needed layout/design change to make the site more responsive for mobile devices, so there may be periods where it will be under maintenance and/or you may see some weirdness or minor issues here and there as things are fine-tuned to the changes. It will be a slow process, so things may very well spill into the new year, so just bear with me.

HELP IS ALWAYS WELCOMED:
As many of you probably already know (at least by now if you've read this far) I do everything on my own. With the exception of the podcast (which is masterfully headed by Ryan Tutolo) and next to the occasional guest editor or part time staff reviewer, I do everything myself. And as you'd expect, things can get tough and very time-consuming. That's why I'm always open to outside help.

If you'd like to help in some way, like with reviews or if you know your way around design or photoshop and would like to offer some assistance you can contact me. I can't pay for any help, but I'd be more than happy to give proper credit (on the site and social media outlets). Also suggestions are also helpful, like if there's something you'd like to see on the site that isn't already available, feel free to comment below or contact me. I'm always open to suggestions and looking to improve the site any way I can.
