Romero's SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD gets US release!

survivalofthedead.jpg
Zombie maestro George A. Romero has finally gotten US distribution set for his latest 'Dead' effort, as Magnet Releasing will distribute the pic under their video-on-demand service a month before the film's limited theatrical run. No set date has been revealed, but they hope to have it out by the Spring of next year.

"George A. Romero is an undisputed cinematic legend, and we’re honored to be bringing another installment of this incredible series of films to horror fans," said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. "SURVIVAL is smart, extremely fun and a worthy addition to the ‘Of the Dead’ franchise." You can find clips, pics, and additional info on Survival of the Dead by clicking here.

The film takes place in a desperate, nightmarish world where the dead walk the earth, relentlessly attacking the living. It is the story of Plum Island – a beautiful refuge whose isolation allows two powerful families to maintain a semblance of order in the wake of the zombie holocaust.  But as the inhabitants slowly die off, the two clans become sharply divided: the O’Flynns believe that the undead must be destroyed without exception, while the Muldoons insist that afflicted loved ones be kept “alive” until a cure is found. The result is an escalating showdown with echoes of a classic Western stand-off that erupts in brutality and violence.

Some agreements/disagreements...I love all of George Romero's films. I could sit and pick apart remakes, but I can find something to like about all of his films; original and remake. Land of the Dead gave us a glimpse of what life would be like for survivors. Diary of the Dead made us think of what we would do when placed in the same situation. I would like to add that my favorite update was Dawn of the Dead. The Day of the Dead remake works for the younger crowd.

George Romero is one of the best Directors living. He doesn't compromise his art because someone thought they had a better idea. George has turned down or walked away from projects he couldn't control. He makes films that he feels he would like.Survival of the Dead is going to be a great zombie movie. If you don't like George's work, you don't have to go see his films. This is one of the freedoms of this great country. You have the right to watch any film you want to. As for me, I'm sticking with George Romero.

I think that Romero needs to hang it up at this point. I can honestly say that I haven't seen a decent Zombie flix since the remake of Dawn of the Dead. I think that someone needs to start making better horror movies!!! Maybe a remake of Hell Night??? that was a classic!

Dude ... I Think you need to hang up on commenting! Your the only person I've heard say they like Dawn of the Dead Remake. Which probably means you have bad taste in movies. Diary of the Dead was classicaly awsome. So while Romero starts trying to make better Zombie movies just for you, you can try and leave better comments!

The remake of dawn of the dead was great it wasnt that bad, but to be truly honest george hasnt been doing so great lately land of the dead wasnt that good, diaries of the dead was ok because i liked the old school zombies no extra special effects were added now if you see the freaking trailer for this new movie proves that adding speacial effects ruins the roots of these movies ; ; so romero needs to go back to the roots or like the guy above said just give up. sadly but true.

i dont agree with any of yall. All of Romero's remakes were the best. except for the day of the dead remake with Nick Cannon. that was a joke. Besides the point both dawn of the dead remake is a classic for me and yes Diary of the dead is very very good. i love the whole FPS idea. hopefully this new movie will be as good as his others.
