SILENT HILL 2 finally happening!
Fans of the first Silent Hill adaptation are in luck, as THR now reports that the sequel is officially moving forward. After the previous installment was released to theaters in 2006 there has been nothing but talks and speculation that a sequel would eventually happen.
Writer Roger Avary returns to script the sequel, with original producer Samuel Hadida of Davis Films also back on board. Davis Films hopes to begin filming sometime next year after Resident Evil 4, which is currently in pre-production. No word if director Christophe Gans or star Radha Mitchell will be returning.

I cannot wait for part2! I'm a huge fan of all the Silent Hill games because I grew up with them. I'm peeved that people do movies based on games because thats all they seem to do lately...but IM DEFINATELY glad they made Resident Evil movies and was super excited when they delivered SILENT HILL the movie! I had been waiting for that one. So, the only thing Im hoping is that the sequeal to the movie is just like the sequeal to the game. The story-line was awesome! Unlike part 3. OMG, I hope they continue the Silent Hill movies and make part 4 based on Silent Hill4: The Room. Thatd be some challenge but its an awesome game!
OMG...you know what would be so awesome? If they made the movie based on Parasite Eve 1&2. Does anyone remember those games!?!?!
Ok gorman one. Yes the games are similar. The whole idea is to work through puzzles and battle a few enemies and bosses here and there. The idea of the game is to work puzzles. Yea the story lines/plot are very much the same.
I didn't expect much from the first one but was pleasantly surprised. It was good for what it was, so I'm actually excited as to how the sequel will be. I hope it stays with the same feeling as the first.
Most games-to-movies usually suck major ass so hopefully this one doesn't end up that way too.
P.S. My favorite games are the RE series, but I don't like the movies much.
Even more Gorey?
There was nothing really gorey bout the first one, compared to the game it was a kids movie, Spongebobs scarier than Silent Hill! Even the game is rather lame, I played it for about 12hrs straight and the more you progress the more its all basically the same shit, and to think they brought out so many of them is sooooooooo pathetic, but I guess it shows how many boring imagination lacking people there are out there! So the thought of them bringing out a sequel to Silent Hill the movie is appalling, I hope it has some sought of raise in excitement levels otherwise, yet again flop time!
The movie was much more gorey then the games. I have played 2 games of the silent hill series and I believe that the movie is so much more blood and gore then the games. I agree that the games are all the same, they have all the same plot and the idea of the game is to beat puzzles. Yea you have to attack the occasional enemie and boss but they don't grow in size, they just can get harder to kill as you progress through the difficulties. So I can understand where your coming from but if you appriciate a good puzzle then the silent hill games are the way to go, with a creepy resident evil atmosphere. Yet I thought that the movie delivered a classic. Good movie but much different then the game its self.
alright. i'm looking forward to this! the first one wasn't too bad. i enjoyed it.
I played the game and I loved the first one. In my opinion, Silent Hill is better set into a movie than all the Resident Evil films together. I mean its more frightening and brings the scary feeling better into the living room than RE. Don't get me wrong, the RE-Films are good movies but if I had to film RE, I'd started with the scary mansion you know. That was something that scared me really bad when I played it the first time. If they had took this feeling and set it into a movie... DAMMIT!! This would be awsome. But they didn't and so I think Silent Hill is more frightened than any RE Sequel.
I'm new here and this is my first post
I totally agree with you there!
I'm totally disappointed with RE movies... I mean, I'm the big fan of RE games and been familiar with Jill and Chris, so WTH is Alice??
And have you seen the Nemesis cried?? I don't think so......... *pissed* He's too busy looking for *STAAARS* to kill
Anyway, the first movie of Silent Hill is pretty much entertaining and better so I'm hoping the same thing with the sequel
With hopes it won't be out of story line like they did with RE
Well, lots of video games turned into live action lately and if I'm being told to choose what should be the next project taken from scary games after Silent Hill? My choice is definitely goes to Fatal Frame!!
RE was my favorite game before i found SH, so i know where youre coming from. as great and classic as the first game was, why would you want to see it regurgitated into a movie??? thatd be boring. Paul Anderson was tellin the story of how it all happened and i thought that was a very genius idea. SH is of course more frightening cuz it deals with mostly psychological atmospheres. RE is just an action/horror homage to Romero. very brilliant, but easily founded. SH takes brains and heart; a roller coaster of a mindf*ck, basically. the SH movie was great, but the script and dialogue could have been better; there was a hint of cheese. i hope the second story is taken slowly and everything is perfect. just like SH2, the best in the series. LONG LIVE PYRAMID HEAD!!!
OMG! i can't wait for this movie, i don't care what all you SH haters think, it was good no matter what! i hope they keep Rhada in this one, can't wait!!!!! :DD
Rhada Mitchell has no business being in the second movie. its always someone different. you even play the games?!? except for Harry appearing in the SH3, ugh, poor Harry...youd know what i was talking about if in fact you ARE A TRUE SH fanatic! LONG LIVE PYRAMID HEAD!!!
couldn't have put it better myself madebydeath13 poor poor harry
Now i love the silent hill series of games, except for maybe number 4... although i dont count that as a silent hill game
When i heard about the movie i shit myself with excitement.
When i saw it i thought it was pretty good for a Game to Movie thing a few things that didn't stick to the game, but hey its like a new story to the silent hill series.
overall it was brilliant, and i cant wait for the sequel, as long as its even gory than the first >:)
thank you for the compliment. glad someone knows what theyre talking about. oh, and if you didnt know this: silent hill 4 DIDNT start out as a SH game. it was started as a completely different game but was never finished and the SH team working there at the time (Team Silent, i think) picked it up and MADE it into SH4. it wasnt my fav either but i loved the Walter story line. (Walter is mentioned in the background of 2 or 3 somewhere as a killer in the town, if i remember correctly). it was very "The Frighteners", if youve seen that movie? a killer executed and keeps killing as an evil entity. even the numbers 1 thru 21 carved in the victims and as the game continues and people die, the numbers get closer to 21... very cool. especially towards the end of the game and the number count gets closer to 21 and you and youre neighbor are all thats left and you look through the hole in your wall to her apt and Robbie the friggin badass rabbit is now pointing at you cuz your next!!!...oh man, my heart leaped. but it was def better than Homecoming. i think they missed the ball COMPLETELY on that one.
