PROJECT DETAILS:

This project has reportedly been in development since the early 2000's and seemed to receive significant movement around 2005/2006 when Mary Lambert (Pet Sematary) was attached to direct. However, not much was updated after that bit of news and Mary Lambert has moved on to other things since. The last update on the project appeared on IMDB in 2016 when it was seemingly retitled to Purgatory and had Matt Lanter (Sorority Row, Vampires Suck, The Roommate) attached to play a Sheriff. That IMDB page has since been removed and producer Mark Heidelberger (Harsh Times, The Basement) no longer lists the project anywhere, so it looks like this has been long dead for several years. (8/11/22)

The following cast were supposedly attached to the project when it was still in development: William Baldwin, Thomas Kretschmann, Ted Raimi, Taylor Nichols, Emilio Rivera, Kevin Weisman, Elizabeth Hurley, Vincent D'Onofrio.

Director Mary Lambert was quoted saying the following about the female vampire: "She is the queen vampire and our story takes place right after the American Civil War. We end up in this small Western town where there’s a sheriff, who is the movie’s lead character, who has kind of given up hope; his life has not gone to plan, and he’s a drunk. The film then becomes a story about his redemption—about him putting down the drink and taking out some vampires."

Produced by Mark Heidelberger at Treasure Entertainment, who has supposedly been trying to get this project off the ground for years.

Director Mary Lambert also directed Stephen King's Pet Sematary.

Described as "Unforgiven meets Bram Stoker’s Dracula."

It's said that at one point this project was set up at Screen Gems with John Carpenter attached to direct.

Written by Denis Faye.

This is a vampire western that was originally announced in 2005, with filming initially aimed for April 2006.
