Follows a professor traveling to South America to find out what happened to a film crew that disappeared while shooting a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes. He eventually discovers the remains of the crew and several reels of undeveloped film, which show the disastrous consequences of the crew's decision to provoke the natives.

PROJECT DETAILS

• There hasn't been an update on this project in almost a decade, so it's pretty safe to say that it's no longer in development and writer/director Ruggero Deodato has since moved on to other projects. (10/12/17)
• Back in August '08 writer/director Ruggero Deodato stated that he and the producers weren't seeing eye-to-eye with a certain key element in the script and the project has since been on hold until the matter gets resolved. There has been no update since.
• Originally titled Cannibal Holocaust, when it was still thought to be a remake.
• Filming would take place in the Philippines and Ottawa, Canada.
• Although the first film was shot in a documentary-style, this sequel will be presented as more of a fictional tale, with only a few scenes that offer a similar aspect.
• It's said that when the first film premiered in 1980 Itallian director Ruggero Deodato was jailed for a brief period until he could prove the actors were unharmed. This was due to filming in a documentary style, which was uncommon at the time.
