Basket Case (1982)

REVIEWER RATING:
6/10

I finally got a chance to check this movie out. I've heard it was a bit of a cult classic and I can see it being one, because most of them are very weird and this was a weird film; especially towards the end. The movie had a lot of cheap ass graphics, but it was fun to laugh at end shrug off. It was a good film. The story was pretty much just about a man who carries around his deformed siamese-twin brother in a basket, as the two roam the city searching for the doctor who separated them at birth. It was cool to see the deformed brother go on a rampage in certain scenes. He sure is a strong mofo. It was funny to see the claymation they used in scenes where the deformed brother was throwing stuff around. I guess the effects were somewhat good at the time *shrugs*.

I liked how his eyes glowed red towards the end of the movie. It made the character look a little creepier than he already did, even though it was cheap looking. I thought one main scene was totally unnecessary, but I guess it was to explain the event that was going on. Either way, I didn't like how the regular brother was dreaming about running around the city streets naked. They really didn't have to show everything The acting isn't very good, but that's a given for an old horror film. There's not much for gore, but there's a lot of blood and clawing scenes, because the deformed brother likes to use his freakish-looking hands to kill people. I would have given the movie a different rating, but it's a good movie if you're not really bothered by cheap effects and weirdness.

The director ended up making 2 sequels for this film that really didn't have much of an impact as the first one did. I've seen part 3, but I don't remember if I've seen part 2. Don't bother seeing part 3 it sucks. Although, it’s been a while since I seen it.

Good cult-classic horror film. Lot of weird stuff going on. Cheap ass graphics that are fun to laugh it. Check this film out.
