Now-a-days when you hear that Dimension Films is behind a project you know that you won't get to see it for a few years. Those guys are so horrible and promotion and bad at releasing their flicks, it makes you wonder why they're even still around. This movie ended up delayed for a year when it ran into a lot of production and script problems, and this was during filming.

So a lot of the original actors and actresses that shot their scenes already were needed a year later to finish, but naturally they ran into scheduling conflicts, so Wes had to re-shoot a lot of new scenes with new actors and replaced a lot of the old scenes. Not only that, but when the movie was finally done, it had to be cut in order to receive a PG-13 rating, like that was going to help it at the box office.

So the movie follows two siblings as they've just gotten over a car wreck and a rabid dog attack (sure). The younger bro thinks it was a werewolf, while the older sister shrugs it off. That is of course until strange things start happening, like a strong sense of smell and unusual strength. Things become clear when people turn up dead and in order to stop them from becoming "cursed" the question whether who the original werewolf is comes into question, and they point the finger to those close to them.

It seems like writer Kevin Williamson is obsessed with having a young "hip" cast, and director Wes Craven just goes with the flow; Sad. The duo somehow managed to combine Scream and An American Werewolf in Paris together to create Cursed, because they just had to add the who-dun-it formula once again. And the effects were very Werewolf-in-Paris-esque thanks to the lame CGI work.

I wanted to like this movie, but I just couldn't. I had a hard time believing the characters and I was just plain bored with the unoriginality and choppy script. The ending when they revealed who's the original werewolf was so easily guessed. I knew it from the beginning; five minutes after the character was on screen! There wasn't much for gore (PG-13 people) and the scares were the same-old.

Cursed somehow manages to combine Scream and An American Werewolf in Paris into one film, making it a failed attempt at delivering something new to the werewolf sub-genre. This would have been a good direct-to-video, but instead it went to theaters and failed at the box office. Not recommended unless you're really into Wes Craven or werewolf flicks.
