Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003)

REVIEWER RATING:
7/10

I enjoyed the first movie even though it left a lot of unanswered questions, but once I heard about a sequel I figured the questions would be answered; Nope. This movie just basically continues from the first movie, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. The story takes place on the last couple days of the Creeper's 23 day eat-a-thon. A bus load of high school students get stranded on the interstate after coming from a football game. Little do they know that it was thanks to the Creeper and his tools. The Creeper makes himself known right away and it doesn't take long before people start disappearing.

What made the first movie so good were the originality and the fact that so much was left to the imagination. The first had a lot of good suspense, where the sequel has more action. So when it all comes down to it, which is better? Well the first of course! But the sequel does do its job to entertain. Sure there aren't many good scares, but hell, it was still fun to watch. The movie is just basically a continuation from the first. Sadly the sister from the original doesn't appear in this film, but her dead brother makes a cameo appearance in a dream sequence. Apparently one of the cheerleaders in the bus becomes psychic all of a sudden. I guess they had to throw in some psychic stuff since the weird lady from the first movie isn't around.

Yes, the movie is a bit silly at times, what with the lame dialogue and uninteresting characters, but I saw the movie for the Creeper, not for the dumbass high school kids. I liked the little sub-plot of the father bent on revenge after the Creeper took his son in the beginning of the movie. The whole film pretty much revolves around the bus full of students, which kinda sucks because the scenery doesn't change much. I thought Victor's directing was a little better in the first movie, but he did a decent job here. There wasn't much atmosphere like the first had, mainly because most of the scenes were in the bus, but it did had some decent scares here and there for all you wusses that scare easy.

In the end, after the credits rolled, I had mixed feelings. I liked the movie, but I expected more. I knew right away that it wasn't better than the first, but I still enjoyed it. I decided a 7-rating was best. It's not a bad movie and I thought the ending was kinda cool. There have been talks early on about a possible prequel for the film where the Creeper is the West. It would explain why he looked kind of like a cowboy/farmer with his clothes. Hopefully in the next sequel or prequel there will finally be some background info on the man.

Not as good as the first, but still entertaining none-the-less. Sadly, there's still no background on the Creeper and the sister from the first doesn't make an appearance. Check this movie if you liked the first, but don't expect much.
