Ju-On 2 (2000)

REVIEWER RATING:
5/10

This is basically the continuation from where the first movie left off. The bad thing that really makes the movie suffer is the fact that the first 40 minutes of the movie is basically the last 40 minutes of the first movie. It's the same footage! The point for doing this is beyond me, but a good speculation is that the guys behind the movie wanted to cash in by splitting the movie into two. It's pretty stupid in my opinion considering if you combined the two movies together you'd get a good running time of a little less than two hours. That's the same amount of running time a lot of movies have now-a-days.

So after we re-watch the pointless 40-or-so minutes of footage in the beginning we finally get to see where it left off. It basically continues with the same formula that the first had, where we see a varied group of characters fall victim to the curse. It does have its creepy moments, but it's not as good as the first movie, mainly because there isn't much new footage.

The movie does its fair shares of creepy moments, much like the first movie, but once again, like I said in the review of the first movie, it's not as scary as many has made it out to be. The film does answer some questions left by the original, but overall it still didn't answer everything. In the end I was still left satisfied, but still pissed about the repeated 40 minutes of footage I had to sit through again. Had the two movies just combined I probably would have liked'em both better. Oh well.

Not as good as the first movie, but still decent. The first 40 minutes of the beginning is basically the last 40 minutes of footage from the first film, so you may feel a bit cheated when you see this. Watch this if you've seen and liked the first, but don't otherwise.
