Thanks to Lion's Gate I got to see a screener for this flick, although it is better than catching it on the SciFi channel, I'm sure it's not fully uncut. Either way, I'm glad I got to catch it before its release. So does it live up to the previous two flicks? I guess in ways yes, but when it comes down to it, it is the lesser film of the trilogy. The plot is basically about a young kid who witnesses his older sister get killed by one of Herbert West's crazy experiments. Herbert is finally caught by the cops and sent to prison. Fast-forward 13 years and the kid is all grown up and it turns out that he became a doctor as well. He enlists himself to be the official prison doctor and requests Herbert West to be his assistant. Uh-oh... It turns out the kid knows all about Herb's experiments and wants to help him continue. I think we know where this leads...

The movie isn't really a bad flick. I've seen worse sequels before. It does live up to the previous films with the gore, although me being a gore-hound still expected more. I'm sure the DVD, which comes out December 30th, will be uncut and contain some nice goodies. This screener still had a nice amount of gore though. The films not as funny as the second film was, which I thought was more into the comedy side than anything else. It was good to see Jeffrey Combs back in action as Herbert West. I never get tired of seeing that guy in horror flicks. One thing I didn't really like about this movie was the fact that it's pretty much the same-old story, but with a different backdrop. I figured the story would be a little different, but it was basically the same thing we've already seen in the other films. At least this time Herb finally does make a little more progress with his experiments. Good for him!

I enjoyed this movie overall. I would have given it a higher-rating, but it's really nothing new, so I figured a 6-rating was best. It's a good rent and a decent watch for fans of the previous movies, but don't expect much. The first movie is still the best in my opinion. When you finally check this flick, be sure to keep watching a little after the credits start rolling, because they'll show a hilarious scene with a rat fighting a severed penis. That was some funny shit. You can view this movie on he SciFi channel October 4th and prepare for the DVD release on December 30th.

OVERALL

A good rent and a decent watch for fans of the previous movies. A nice amount of gore, but the comedy and story could have used more work. Worth a watch at least once.

I used to work in a video store and I got free movie rentals and this is one I took home to watch. All I have to say is thank god I did not pay for this movie. The movie itself was how do I say it was DUMB!!! I have seen the other 2 films and I just don't get them. Jeffrey Combs is great as Dr. Herbert West, and I think he plays great a psychopath, but that is the only thing that was any good in the movie. If I had to rate this movie on a 1 to 10 scale it would get a 1 if that, if I could go 0 I would.
