| Boogeyman Lets not get this movie confused with the 1980 slasher entitled The Boogeyman, as the two films are entirely differen't. I'm surprised a movie hasn't really been made specifically around "the boogeyman". Sure there have been movies where the villains were referred to as the boogeyman, but this is the first (that I know of) that really centers on the tall tale. We've all grown up with the fear of the dark and what could be lurking within it. Telling our parents to keep the light on and making sure the closet door is closed. This film really takes it to the next level with the boogeyman actually being an actual ghostly figure. Of course we don't see the boogeyman until towards the end, which I personally think is a good thing. The story follows a young man who returns to his hometown after the death of his mother. Once there old memories haunt him, especially those that revolve within his home. One such memory is that of him witnessing his father being sucked in by something from within the closet. The officials mark it off as him leaving his family behind, but the boy knew the truth and was sent to a child psychologist due to his fear of what was in the closet. Many years pass and the man is forced to spend one night in the infamous house in hopes of relinquishing his fear of the dark. Of course we all know that the boogeyman is real and that he has a lot to be weary of. Although I personally didn't think this movie was scary, it did have some interesting ideas and managed to keep me entertained, despite its number of slow scenes. I don't know what's up with the young stars of the show 7th Heaven appearing in a number of horror movies, but Barry Watson did a fine job as the lead. With the movies interesting premise you'd think that it be a lot scarier than it was, but sadly with what little suspense it had it mainly relied on the typical "boo scares" to get the audience. Either way, I enjoyed the movie none-the-less. I'm sure had more been added to the script and the ending tweaked a bit, the movie would have been a lot better. OVERALL Comments page 1 of 1:
