Let's Scare Jessica to Death
This is an old movie that some may consider to be a classic and for one reason or another it's incredibly hard to get a hold of. I suppose the fact that it is hard to get makes viewers want it more. Either way, I expected better from the film. It's unique, that's for sure, but it also seemed like it tried to be too many things at once; like it had an identity crisis and couldn't distinguish whether it was a vampire or supernatural movie.
The story follows a woman; her husband; and a close friend, as they move into an old New England home next to a lake by a small town. Once they step foot in the house they come across a woman already living there. Apparently the hippie-chick was bunkin' at the place without anyone knowing. The new owners (the kind people they are) get to know her and decide to let her stay since its big enough for all of them. It doesn't take long before the woman begins experiencing strange things in and around the home. She begins to suspect the mysterious hippie-chick to be some sort of vampire and notices a lot of the townspeople have odd scars on their necks. Could the town really be plagued with the undead or is her sanity once again up for question?
Don't get the wrong impression; this isn't exactly a vampire flick. It just has vampire-like qualities, with vampirism being mentioned and the odd markings on people's necks. You don't see a lot of blood-sucking of the sharp fangs you're accustomed to seeing. No, this movie really just follows the woman as she notices the people around her begin to change as they get to know the hippie-chick more and more. It's a movie that makes you question what's real and what's not. I've heard some say that this was a "scary movie". Well maybe when it aired on television in the early 70's, but definitely not now. Despite that, it's still an interesting and unique flick that might appeal to some not looking for the norm.
OVERALL
A decent movie with a unique story. It's slow-paced so don't expect a lot. Despite word of it being a vampire flick, don't go in thinking it's one.

Either the main woman is still crazy, and a killer -or- that other chick is some kind of demon vampire. I happen to think it's the latter. I found it a unique and spooky film. Not tied up in a nice ribbon - which can be good.
