Zombie '90: Extreme Pestilence

This is another one of German director, Andreas Schnaas gore-filled zombie movies. Yet again it has no real plot or meaning, except to gross out the viewers with the constant eating of human intestines by strange-looking and bad-acted zombies. This movie was an added feature within the Special Edition DVD for Zombie Doom and I can see why they added this free instead of actually selling it separately, because I don't know anyone who would actually want to buy this film alone. The movie starts out with a military plane crashing into the forest, which contained special chemicals that ends up turning a lot of people into zombies. Two scientists decide to go to the forest where the crash is to get some more information to see if they can find a way to stop the zombie epidemic.

I know I said the dubbing in Premutos was bad, but this crap is even worse, but the incredibly hilarious dubbing is what actually makes this movie watchable. The dubbing is so bad that they used a black man's voice to dub over the main white German scientist, and if that isn't bad enough, the same person actually did the voice dubbing for various other characters, with a failed attempt to try and disguise his voice. It was quite apparent that the people who dubbed the film made up a lot of the dialogue, because many scenes the character wouldn't be talking, but the person who is dubbing is saying some quick-witted comments about what is going on. It was kind of like watching Mystery Science Theatre 3000 minus the shadow of the audience in front of the movie. The zombies for this film were decent at best, with the limited budget they had. It was obvious that they reused a lot of the same zombies and actors. On that note - many scenes where very badly acted and the directing was no better.

The ending was a complete waste of time, in my opinion. With the last 20-or-so-minutes, they decide to have the main character fall and knock himself unconscious, which leads to a 15-minute dream sequence, which seemed to just be there to waste time. It really didn't make any sense or have any meaning at all. I would have given this movie a 1-rating, but I had a good laugh at the dubbing and the funny dialogue that the dubbers threw together. I also enjoyed some of the cheesy gore. Other than that, this is one of the worst zombie movies I've ever seen.

OVERALL

Very badly dubbed, but that's what makes the movie watchable. Don't waste your time on this unless you're into REALLY low-budget zombie movies.
