Catacombs - 2/10 - Sheesh! No wonder Lionsgate has refused a US theatrical release for this picture for the last two years. It's a total stinker. Tedious. Tepid. And outright bedraggled. Victoria, the film's lead (and just about ONLY character), is hair-pullingly annoying (total time spent screaming = an excruciating 30+ minutes) and quite possibly the dumbest broad to grace the genre in the past ten years. Add to that a mind-blowingly banal finale that gets stupider and stupider as the plot twists go on (think Saw meets April Fool's Day w/ shades of DePalma's Carrie) and there's no question why this 2005 Twisted Pictures produced picture is making its US premier via an On Demand cable tv service. Avoid at all cost!

Here's something from I-mockery about the star's life (I remember a show on E! (hollywood mysteries I think) did an episode on her:
Susan Cabot's life could have been one of the movies she stared in. Raised in eight different foster homes, married at seventeen. She started out as a nightclub singer, jumped to pictures, landed a contract with Universal and had a pretty film solid career in the late 40's and 50's. But Cabot hated the endless small-time ingénue roles she was cast in and when a young Roger Corman offered her an exclusive contract, she jumped on it. He let her play everything, a Viking warrior queen, a psychotic sorority girl, even Machine Gun Kelley's Moll opposite a young Charles Bronson. But it's in her last role, Wasp Woman, that she somehow stays with you. Something about that feisty little brunette transforming into a giant wasp, stinging foes and suitors alike to death. Brrrrrr. She retired after that, went back to lounge singing. Twice married, twice divorced, she had a highly publicized fling with King Hussein of Jordan. She had a child, a dwarf, but never said who the father was. On December 10th, 1986 she was found beaten to death with a weight bar in her Encino home. Her son initially told the police he'd seen a "Latino intruder dressed as a ninja warrior", but later confessed he'd killed her himself. At the trial it was ruled that the experimental growth hormone she'd been giving her son for fifteen years had driven the poor boy quite insane.

Evil Aliens is the 2007 answer to Bad Taste, Black Sheep is not to be missed, the special effects (ironically enough) were created by Peter Jackson's WETA workshop, and Flight of the Living Dead is what it is. The latter, Night of the Comet and THe Monster Squad are old school movies I grew up with and love, I recommend them to all of the younger UHM members ( by younger I mean born after 89) they're good fun.

Just got my precious signed DVD today, along with a August Underground hoodie and a Redsin Tower t-shirt.
I put on the t-shirt and started watching the movie, expecting a gorefest like AU/M/P, but to my surprise, the main focus wasn't gore, it was horror. My only problem with this movie is that it was a little short. Wanted more freaky shit.
Felt like a mix between Evil Dead and Murder-Set-Pieces.

Caught two more movies of the 8 films to die for. Watched Gravedancers a couple of days ago and The Abandoned today.

Gravedancers was a fun flick they should have + and - a few scenes but thats just my opinion. They really fucked up on the ending though, thats a shame.

The Abandoned had a weak script and the lead actress was horrid. The movie just started off goofy right off the start so I lost interest quick. The ending didn't really give me the explanation I wanted. Decent graphics but thats it, a 3 is probably generous

30 Days of Night- 9/10, by far THE BEST horror movie of the year... If not the decade. Just fantastic in every single way. Recommended to ALL.

The Reaping- 5/10, Hillary Swank is a goddess. Movie was ok.. Would have been better without the rushed ending and stupid religious mumbo-jumbo.

well i pretty much live in Detroit...apparently Bizarre had a cd coming out on the 23rd(yesterday its wed. the 24th) and a a record store around the block from me called Rock of Ages(they always have people ocme in and do singings) anyways me and my buddies drove by the record store smokin a blunt and on there sign it said "meet d12s bizarre to at 7pm" so we got even more blayzed up and went up there..it was funny as fuck...bizzare was blunted as fuck..and his boy king gordy(hes a local detroit rapper..not to big..hes got a small part in 8 mile) was str8 lookin asian he was so high lol..
there wernt even any people there..basicly just me and a bunch of my friends cuz as soon as i found out i called all my boys...i got him to sign the devils nite cd for me adn on it he wrote "Bizarre d12 STAY HIGH"

The newest Masters of Horror film by Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist) is absolutely amazing! I love MOH and this is my favorite one so far. The gore is good and it is written well. I suggest that you go buy it! It's only $9! It is about a virus thing that posses people to kill. Kind of like the Venom/Spiderman thing only HORROR! Go buy it now it is really good!
