It shows the different scenes and how big they all where... Chicago, Boston, Toronto, MIlwakee, LA, DC and New York... and as far as scenes DC is where its at but, New York was its equal.

I suppose it's a matter of opinion, but I hate the ownership the NY bands claim on the genre. Outside of Gorilla Biscuits, Youth of Today, and Reagan Youth, NYHC is pretty unbearable. It's all chest-pounding dogmatic tough guy bullshit. The stuff from D.C. was angry and fast, sure, but it also was open and positive, and actually evolved the genre. Actually, the NY stuff evolved too, but into shitty wigger-core Limp Biscuit bullshit. Emocore (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolution_Summer) was the logical continuation of hardcore, too bad it died such a horrible death.

The LA stuff I love too, really nasty and cynical.
