Yeah i agree. I remember watching RAW and Shane popped up on the screen and he said he owned WCW. I was like WTFFFF. I totally wasn't expecting it. Then they owned ECW. Then there was the invasion. I loved it.

I just wish the Invasion angle would have been done better. I saw an episode of Raw live around that time and the pops the ECW guys were getting were huge. Only WWE guy to really go over huge was Stone Cold. That whole angle made it obvious that Vince would never push guys as hard as he pushes his home grown talent.

Some of the real good old WCW and ECW cant be found on DVD. I have a few old school WCW vhs around here. I watch them once a year or so. Flying Brian Pillman, Vader, Stunning Steve Austin, Ricky Steamboat and all the old gang.

I honestly thought the whole invasion angle was the worst thing that happened to the WWE during that time period. All that wealth of talent inherited and to fall as flat as they did after that time really drove away alot of fans including me IMO.

After that, the WWE incarnation of the NWO was just as abmisal. Sure not at first but right after Mania it was basically doomed to fail spite the coming injuries.

IMO the two best eras of the WWE were the 80s, especially mid/late 80s and of course Attitude 1997-2001.

The thing with the 80s is that there's no replay value. The matches are pretty much all the same, with rest holds and moves that we know today to have no actual effect. At least the workrate in the 90s is more solid and actually has some stuff that looks painful.

I agree with you redpath. It wasn't a bad idea as much as it was just poorly executed. The NWO just wasn't the NWO of past and it showed big time. Vince had a hold on a lot of excellent talent and now they all are gone. Sting didn't join over Booker T. got screwed hardcore same with RVD, New Jack, and the Dudley's and guys like Bryan Clark, Kid Kash and others were left in the dark. A lot of talent got wasted or not used to the fullest potential but that's what happens when your the only major wrestling company with only a couple of hours for shows

Right now I'd say this current WWE era is a equivalent to that of the early/mid 90s WWE were some guys got pushed and were made stars ala Bret Hart, HBK, Taker, etc and some guys got pushed that were abmisal like Lex Luger, Bob Backlund, Mabel/Visc, etc.

Wont be hard to name who the equivalents are of that era today.

problem with WWE today is theres no new star power its all about the same people main eventing the same matches over and over again. if vince wants to shake the product he needs to give his other guys like kennedy,punk, or benjamin a chance to be main eventers so far its not happening. Sure punk and benjamin are in ECW but those guys could do so much better outside of the ECW brand.

I'm hoping Benjamin gets put on Raw or Smackdown and gets the push he fucking deserves. Tired of seeing goobers like Cena carry the belt all the time when Benjamin is a 10 times better wrestler. Fucking makes me sick, and I know mic skills play a big part, but he can work on that. Orton wasn't that great on the mic at first either, but when they put him with HHH and Flair it came natural to him. They are misusing Benjamin big time. When he faced HBK in that Gold Rush Tourney in 2005, it was probably one of the greatest matches I had ever seen. Top 10 for sure. Probably the best finish. Just a flat out good ol fashioned wrestling match. No rivalry, no feud or anything. Don't see many like that anymore, not even at a PPV. Did he get a push? No, because he couldn't talk on the mic. Garbage, this guy's talent is just too good to be ignored. The high-flying version of Kurt Angle.

That's my guess. Triple H will probably retain against Cena and bring the WWE Championship to Smackdown, and Batista will win the World Heavyweight Championship from Edge and bring it to Raw. Will lead to a HHH/Edge fued for the WWE Championship on Smackdown and a Batista/Cena fued for the World Heavyweight Championship on Raw.

Yeah I saw it. I was a little too harsh with the OVW statement but I still think he needs work. I said earlier that I believe he will be good for the future but his in ring skills are a little weak. He needs to work on wrestling with the fans emotions. Using moves to set the crowd up and down. In your link he had 1 or 2 moments but Shawn showed him hows it's done. I don't think he's a bad wrestler just needs some work.

My favorite Wrestlemania 6 match was Warrior and Hulk. When I look back now the Warrior was a sorry wrestler but he had such energy and charisma that is was hard not to get behind him and cheer. When he shook the ropes and called on the warriors in the audience it was just as good as when Hulk was hulking up so when you put those to together it was a battle of epic proportions.

On an unrelated note. Here are a couple buddies of mine who recently got a chance at being wrestlers in an indy fed thanks to their buddy who is the champ of the fed. Always nice to have a good connection.

The two you look for are the hobo, the dude who is introduced in the battle royal at the start of the vid as well as the guy in the ring in the all black attire that they focus the camera on.

The other guy who comes out is candy man. Hes a chill kid too. Alltogether, their gimmicks are Mr. Hobo, the Candymand and the narcissist/J Starr.

Well......seems for the 314th time, Kane is not only going Heel again, he's going back to a Mindless Psycho Heel. I know Undertaker dropping the Zombie Gimmick effected Kane's character as well, I know Kane couldn't breath or see that well and hence he wanted the mask removed, I know injuries have slowed him down on his skills and performance.

But for God Sacks WWE, do something orrigenal with his character. The Degrade of Kane really didn't hit me untill WM 20 where he was bitched out to the Undertaker as compared him at WM 14 where, while still losing, he still walked away strong. WWE for one reason or another, seems to be keeping there eye on TNA, that's why they didn't let Carlito go out of fear they'd pick him up. Weather it's Vince Paranoid of another Monday Night Wars if they get enough success or whatever it is, he dosn't want them to outdo him in anything it seems. Granted that aint hard with Russo's 1990's Playbook that he refusses to give up, but with TNA building a woman's division that's....well, actully built with real wrestling talent, WWE seems to want to join the Band Wagon.

Then Austin picked Triple H's car up with a forklift or some shit and dropped it. I don't know how they did it, because if I remember correctly the camera stayed on Triple H's car the entire time. Mike Adamle is an interesting choice... We'll see where it goes. There wont be an elimination chamber match and a hell in the cell match at Summerslam. They wont have those 2 big matches in one PPV.

yes, Freddy Prinze really is now a memebr of the creative team, hes always been a huge fan, and never misses a major PPV or west coast show, and hes been backstage many times over recent months(also made an appearance on The Dirt Sheet).

I think Adamle is a good move, as it gets him off the ECW announce team(even if his replacement is Todd Grisham), and the GM roles is much easier then play by play, Vickie Guerrero has done very good with it, and she is a bad an actor, and has as bad mic skills as Adamle.

Ah, that's true. I didn't think about that. But it's the perfect opportunity to have one. The GM is ok I guess, something new. Looked kinda fruity trying to grab Cena, haha, did anyone else catch that? He seems arrogant though, and I like that. The whole show actually makes sense when you think about it. JBL told him to shut his mouth at the table, which probably means he won't get the title shot. Katie Lee said "I hope the GM is watching", and he was right there in front of it.
