My friend recommended me this new anime called Claymore a couple weeks back and I got hooked on the first episode, and it's slowly becoming one of my favorite animes. I'm about 6-episodes in and I'm loving it more after each watch. It's currently airing on Tuesday nights in Japan and they're on the 11th episode, out of a 26-episode series.

It's basically set in an alternate past around the medieval era, where demons known as "Yoma" terrorize small towns, and the only way to combat them is to enlist the hired aid of half-yoma-half-human hunters known as "Claymore". These Claymores were once human, but have now turned into hybrids in order to battle these demons, and currently only females are able to handle being Claymores.

Best described as a mix of the animes Berserk and Blood +, the series is full of violence, badass heroines, buckets of blood, viscous demons, and big swords -- you can't really go wrong. The animation is superb and it's not filled with silly comedy that normally cool animes fall victim to every now and then. If you're looking for a new anime to check out, I recommend getting a hold of the Claymore fansubs.

This anime is kickin' all sorts of ass -- I'm around the part right now where ranks 2 through 5 are sent to retrieve the head of the rank 1 claymore after she broke an ironclad rule of the organization. Pretty sweet stuff

Saw ep one, it was ok. It's an interesting idea, but as Berserk really set the standard for medival horror it's always hard to see other medival horror based anime/manga as an imitator at first.

Read up on the manga and what not, it started back in 2001(12 years after Berserk) and the story is uncomfortably reminicent of Berserk.

A tale of revenge, a strong and silent loner with a tragic past , demons(Or Yoma if you wish) and another main character who uses a big ass sword to cut through evil.

I'm not sure whether to call this a rip off or parasite of the Berserk manga/anime.

Yes there have always been tales of revenge, strong silent loners with tragic pasts, demons and giant sword weilders in movies, anime, manga and even fables.

Even so its hard not to see this as as an 'original work'. So I'm still torn, not just what to classify this as but to figure out if I like it or not.

This anime is far from original, but it's still pretty badass from the eps I've seen. And, yes they use swords, but they aren't ridiculously big or a main focus in the anime, so that similarity can be thrown out.

I thought they would have earlier in the season, actually, and just pick up with the boy being the first male Claymore to suppress turning into a full Yoma, but since it's half the season it seems likely she won't die, at least not anytime soon. Especially now that she's learning the flash sword -- she's gonna be mad powerful if she perfects it.

Claire is mad strong now that she has Irene's arm -- sweet when she was slicin' away at Ophelia. Next episode looks solid, it seems that we might finally get to see a little of what's happening on the other side with the organization. :coolbeer:

Looks like Claire now has a semi-powerful ally. I know, those Awakened Beings are way too strong, I don't see them standing a chance, even if they all banned together, but with so many surprises each new character brings, you never know. I'm just waiting for Claire to learn a new badass skill to take down these suckers. Since we're almost nearing the finale (10-more eps), it seems fitting that we'd see an all-out war, before Claire finally gets her revenge. Just gets better and better

Despite the series airing on Tuesday night's, Eclipse usually doesn't actually post a fansub until around 6PM CST the next day. For Naruto and Bleach eps, Dattabayo dishes'em out literally hours after they air. I guess I'm just too used to getting them fast :(

Both are entirely different animes, plus Bleach is an incredibly long series. I like'em both the same, but Bleach lost some of my interest with its fillers, which have only recently ended.

No, but there were some filler eps for a few months that were about nothing -- kendo, baking cakes, soccer, and an episode all about Kon just to name a few. Pretty much stupid stuff that lead to nothing. The Arrancar stuff is key to Isen's (however you spell it) plan.

I am enjoying the anime despite the direction its taken away from the manga. Rigardo is now "That Dude" in my opinion. Its sad that the anime will be ending soon. These monthly manga should not be animated until they have ended.

Holy fucking shit. I just watched episode 8 and all I can say is. Teresa!!!! I didn't see that coming. This is probably the first anime that made me feel like I got stabbed in the fucking face. This is probably my favorite anime right now, I just burned the first 8 episodes for my brother. Downloading 9-14 right now.

The author released an extra chapter that showed Teresa fight against an awakened Claymore she took the number one spot from. So basically she destroys an awakened being on the level of Riful and Easley by releasing only 10 % of her power. She makes sure no one knows about it though.

In the brief preview of the next episode, Claire seems to have reverted back to normal somehow. It's kind of hard to believe she would fully awaken, but it may be her only chance against Eisely (I think that's how you spell it) and Priscella. The show has given us a lot interesting twists and turns, you never know where it'll go next.

I was exaggerating a bit when I said Raki was emo it just annoyed me when they were fighting and then it would cut and it would be on his storyline. I have no idea what Clare did if she didn't fully awaken or at least almost be there. Also one thing thats been bothering me even though its no way essential to the storyline at all, how come she is still number 47? :ahheh:

Pretty badass fight between Claire and the Silver-Eyed King. Never considered only awakening a certain part of the body before. Claire is getting dangerously close to fully awakening, so I'm hoping once she sees Raki that she'll calm down a little. The series still seems like there's more story to tell, so hopefully it doesn't end at just 26 eps.

Quality ep, her legs look pretty sweet. Only 3 episodes left so hopefully she'll start fighting Easley next week, then Priscilla, but I reckon Raki will try to stop her.

You non-manga readers are lucky because I am severely pissed at what they are doing to the story just so they can end the series. Claire could not control her awakened legs until she awakened both of her arms. Once she awakened all four limbs she was able to dice Rigardo. Raki shouldn't even be anywhere near the battle. I don't know what they are going to do next, but I will just try to enjoy the last couple of episodes.

Only two more episodes to go. I can definitely see an end to the whole Priscella arch, but I don't see the series itself ending in two episodes, especially what with Eisley showing off his many awakened beings. We still don't know much about the organization itself either, so I'm hoping if a second season happens the origins of the organization will be further explored. I'd like to see who the number 1 is now as well.

It was interesting learning that instead of getting Yoma into her, she was spliced with Teresa. It was obvious before that Teresa was a part of Claire, but I was unaware that Teresa replaced her Yoma powers. That means the Yoma powers she does have is only a slight portion of what Teresa had. Wonder how that fact will play into effect if she awakens.

I doubt she will fully awaken since they just stole her limb awakening from the manga and rewrote it to fit the anime story line. I would like to see their design of an awakened Claire though. Everything Claire does is a watered down version of what someone before her did. Her yoma energy reading, the quick sword, and even the wind cutter. Teresa was a beast Claire unfortunately isn't. Priscella is at a power level that surpasses Riful and Easley so I hope they have good reason for Claire killing her if that happens.

It was ok. I should have waited to read the manga until this was over. Some stuff is just unbelievable to me. Like an incomplete awakening trumping the power of someone said to have the potential to surpass the most powerful claymore of all time. Oh and Priscilla > Easley, Riful, and Lucia in the manga. I really do hate Raki now! I was hoping his ass would die the whole episode.

It hasn't. After Claire awakens her arms and legs to kill Rigardo, Jean helps her change back. Then the Claymores continue to fight Easley's army until they are all thought to have been killed. Meanwhile Easley goes and fights with Lucia the other Dweller of the deep besides Riful. She ends up running away in a weakened state then is killed by her twin sister Raphaela. Seven Claymores survive the war and they all desert the organization. Its mainly the Claire, Helen, Deneve, Miria and a couple more. They hide out until Claire wants to search for Raki, who is with Easley and Priscilla with no knowledge that they are awakened beings. The organization makes their own dweller of the deep Alicia the number one Claymore. Galatea deserts. Claire and her team run into Riful who drops the bomb that Priscilla is to powerful for anyone to beat and Easley works for her as a general. She wants Galatea, but Claire will do if they can't find her. Claire escapes and since then the author has just been releasing back story chapters. Like Teresa owning the awakened claymore she took the number one spot from. Priscilla owning Rigardo and destroying half of Easley's body in an instant. So what do you think is better?
