Caught the flick earlier. Good movie, but expected a lot more action. We get some action in the first 15-minutes then we don't get anything else again for next 45-or-so-minutes. Should have a review soon.

watched it last night, and while it is pretty slow I enjoyed this movie. The special effects were top notch fucking awesome, the monster he fights in the end is badass, and that Howard guy cracked me the hell up. And he's only got 2 scenes. I just wish there had been more to it. We didn't need the 45 minutes of nothing going on, although the stuff with Robert Englund thrown in the slow part was pretty good stuff. So unlike most DTV horror, this one is worth a rent.

The supposed 45 minutes of "nothing going on" was setting up the character and the story. God forbid we should actually have that, instead of 90 minutes of non-stop action sequences, to satisfy the ADD audience.

Get your ego in check Chief, since your not the only one who said that nothing goes on for 45 minutes. Seriously, the world doesn't revolve around you.
I only said that because, I too, just recently finished watching the movie. In which I was expecting nothing to happen, only problem was, the movie was doing what its suppose to do, tell a story. Instead of saying, "Oh hey, here's a guy, here's some monsters. Now lets watch them fight."
The whole movie is fairly lack-luster anyways, but the space gap between monster battles is not an actual fault of the film, as it is with the fault of the viewer for expecting something else.

For those who wanted to see more monster action. Jon Knautz is already in the process of making the sequel and apparently promises there will be more monster action.

I enjoy a good story and character development, its a make or break point for alot of movies in my eyes. In this case, I cannot fault the "nothing happened" folks and its the movie makers' fault. Not even talking about what happened in the movie when I say that.
Look at the title of the movie. From that alone, do you expect in-depth character development, solid story telling, and the like OR does it imply a hack and trash 90 mins of monster bashing? I enjoyed the film, was a surprise to be honest. But it was a bit mislabeled by the title and promotion department... :shrugs:

Watched it on a festival yesterday. I might be the only one saying this, but those "slow" 45 minutes was the best part of the movie. I liked the monsters and the slaying, but it felt like any other movie, where the first half or so was awesome.
Overall, it was fun. Sort of a Slither feel to it.

My wife and I just watched this together last night.
I honestly enjoyed the "slow" part more than the fighting. Everyone did a great job with their characters. It was fun to see them interact and watch things go to hell for all of them.
I will also sing the praises of the very well done special effects. If the Sci-Fi channel and their pool of film makers is paying attention, old school effects are still effective. No more CGI smoke when dry ice will do.
The fighting at the end was good. Some of it was very blatantly foreshadowed, but they made it fun to watch even after you saw it coming.
It was a good movie. I'm glad we decided to give it a shot.

What else could they have titled the movie, considering at the end of the movie he does become a monster slayer?
I would be willing to acknowledge the complaint of the slow part, but the problem is that while he may not have been fighting monsters like certain people were expecting. The movie was just setting up the character and why he will become a monster slayer, and where the monster comes from.
Nothing really in-depth or slow about it, the movie was doing what it was suppose to be doing. Plus it wasn't slow at all, it moved right along, and had plenty of comedy moments in there to make it entertaining.
I know you're not trying to say I'm wrong, argue with me or anything else. I'm just trying to explain my position on this a little more.

I never really thought the first 45 minutes were slow. Hell, some of the stuff going on was funny. Especially the earlier scenes with Robert Englund. Overall, it was still a good movie.
