So I thought this had something to do about ghosts early on, but it's a zombie-ish flick? Hmm, even better.

At first I thought it was just straight-up zombies, but I heard that they're infected with a crazy rabies strain that causes'em to get all 28 Weeks Later-ish, so zombie-ish yes

I just saw the flick. I thought it was a cool short movie (running a little over 70 minutes).

I found it hard placing the movie in a specific horror genre. At first I thought it was a zombie film, then I thought maybe vampires. There wasn't a whole lot as far as gore, but the sound effects (especially the moans and screams) and atmosphere were creepy. The last 10 minutes or so were especially creepy.

Warning: It's obviously Blair Witch style, so be prepared for a shit load of shaky camera.

Just about sick as hell of these hand-cam shot movies... that being said, if it is a zombie-type flick, I'll still check it out...

I know, you think they would get the hint that it annoys people.

Just finished the flick. I thought it was good, but this is probably the worst camera P.O.V. film I've seen thus far. There are just entirely too many shots that are either too dark, out of focus, or just too damn shaky, so a lot of the scenes that could have been scary, weren't; at least not to me. The film also does tend to drag a bit around the mid-point, but that's not a big issue since it's essential to the story and character development. The last bits of the film really make up for most of the movie. Should have a more detailed review soon.

I agree with some of what you say. I however enjoyed some of the out of focus/darker shots. I felt it heightened the tension more because I felt as trapped as the two leads. As for the slow middle section. Yeah, there is less action going on, but the film is only 70 or so minutes long, so it's not like a huge amount of running time is spent here.

As for shaky-cam, I found this to be one of the least shaky 'found footage'/POV films I've ever seen. It obviously wasn't steady-cam, but the Bourne movies jump around more than this does.

How are you guys seeing this? I'm hoping its not from some cheap screener. Could that be the reason why it was too dark and blurry? Probably not, but I'm still waiting for a DVD release here in the US.

Its sucks that it won't get a theatrical release in the US. To me, it feels like a movie that should be seen at the big screen to enjoy the full experience.

what is with all these damn POV movies coming out?

nothin I hate more than a virtually non-stop shaky camera. Do it in a couple scenes for realism thats fine, but the whole movie? I hate that. So I'll be skipping this. Gurantee the american remake will be filmed the same way. On a good note I saw an interview with JJ Abrams about Cloverfield. I didn't like it cuz of the POV through the whole flick, and he said since they've already done that they may go with something else. Cuz he didn't wanna be repetative. So thats good news to me.

The 'shakycam' work is probably more intrusive than any other film that I've seen using the same approach. However, [Rec] is good enough to survive. It's pacy, claustrophobic and has a number of good scares. There is some gore on display, but wisely Balaguero and Plaza rely on the atmosphere more than the gore, and the whole film has a surprisingly creepy, tense atmosphere.

Most reviewers have compared it to Blair Witch Project for the style and 28 Days Later for the content, but I felt it was pretty heavily indebted to George A. Romero, most obviously Night of the Living Dead and The Crazies. Most of the material is drawn from both of those films- which also inspired 28 Days Later- and there's at least one big nod to Night, as well as a number of smaller reference. That's not a criticism- as John Carpenter says, everybody who's ever tried to make a low-budget horror film is influenced by Romero- and Balaguero and Plaza show their influences without just ripping them off. Besides, [Rec] makes a pretty good companion piece to Diary of the Dead

If you couldn't sit through Blair Witch you won't like this, but otherwise there's plenty to enjoy.

I saw it today. I couldn't help it I had to download a DVD rip, but the movie was great otherwise. I can't remember the last time I jumped so many times during a movie.

I still feel bad that I never got the chance to see it in a theater.

Finished watching it just now. I don't know what I was watching but it was very entertaining and it doesn't let up, not for a second. What an amazing ending as well, that bitch was freaky - 8/10.

If someone would be kind enough to PM me a link to their download or too the subtitles I would be grateful. I have a DVD rip without subtitles.
