Second season kicked off last night, and what a fucking start. It's awesome that pretty much everyone is back for the second season, and I like how the storyline is independent of the second book. The second book was good, but hey this way we get yet another storyline.

Great idea for Dexter's bodies to be discovered, if we wanted something bigger than the ice-truck killer then we got it. Can't wait for the next episode. It was tough not watching the leaked episodes of the second season on the internet, but patience does have its virtues.

I succumbed to the three pre-air eps a while back, so now I have to wait a few weeks before I see a new ep :dsp:

I've been told I need to check into this show. No Showtime here, so I gotta rent 'em.

Yeah, you guys definitely need to check this show out. Download some eps, or buy the 1st season, as it's selling for under 30 bucks and it has excellent re-watch value. Michael C. Hall is the man!

Dexter and Flight of the Conchords are the only reason why I still have HBO and Showtime. Anyone ever watch FOTC? It's Gold.

Is it? I watched the first ep of FOTC and I was really turned off. Haven't checked out another ep since... HBO is still good for Curb Your Enthusiasm, but that's the only thing worth watching at this moment. I can't wait for the next season of The Wire to start next year though.

Yeah, this show is great. I think the second season has started on a good kick off.

Look up the video "If You're Into It" on youtube. If you don't find it funny, chances are you won't like the show.

And another reason to keep subscribed to HBO - Bob and David are coming back.

Oh, and Dexter rocks.

Don't watch any of Season 2 eps if you haven't seen the first season.
They spoil the entire first Season, which was pretty good. The second season isn't nearly as good imo. But it's only had 2 ep's so...

anyone know if the books are the same storylines as the show?

The first book, "Darkly Dreaming Dexter," is pretty much just like the first season in the first half... then it kind of veers off, but stays similar. The second book, "Dearly Devoted Dexter," is a totally different storyline than the second season. I heard that from now on they're just going to go in their own direction. The second book was good though, and I plan on getting the third eventually.

Just bought the first season for 20 bucks at Target. Coolness.

The first season was definitely better than this one. There was a very solid plot and question they were striving to answer, and this one seems too (dare I say) commercial. Still interesting though, and Dexter's one of the best characters on TV.

Gotta agree with you.
I have pretty much quit watching the new episodes. I have showtime and all but i'm just not enjoying them like I did with season 1.
I might check the final 2 episodes, I might not...

I thought that the second season started off a little rough perhaps, but now it's really turning into a great season. I'm very satisfied with it thus far.

Finished off this season after catch pre-airs of the last two eps. Overall a great season. Not as good as the first, but still pretty good. Loved the way it ended things as well. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Agree 100%, the first five episodes or so are really kind of slowly working you into a bigger deal. But the past three episodes have been great, especially the last one.

I liked the one before last weeks better than last weeks. But I concur that it has redeemed itself over the last 4 episodes. Anxious to see this weeks ep now...

The season finale was kinda lackluster.
Still a good season though...

I liked how it tied up most loose ends, unlike other series that usually leaves the viewers hanging.

So I'm going to assume Dexter's use of the word 'evolve' means he's going to change his MO next season

Yeah, during the credits the teaser said: "New code, new Dexter." So I'm definitely intrigued.

It was a really good season, and a great finale to cap it off. It wasn't over the top or anything, but sometimes that's good. I'm happy to see the next seasons scheduled for 2008. Showtime is a lot better than HBO in terms of getting new seasons out quickly.
