Ehh...Not a good start for 8 Films To Die For 2007...It wasn't that it was bad it was just boring as hell...Hardly anything fucking happened. I found it to be very boring. It was better then "Hostel", but worse then "Saw" If you like those movies then I guess you should rent it, but it is very boring. I was disappointed...

This has nothing to do with the 8 films to die for 2007. But yes it sucks.

I find it funny that the Horrorfest logo is actually on the slip cover of the DVD, even though it was not part of the festival! Talk about false advertising. :shakehead

It's not even part of the festival? I thought it was cuz I saw the logo on the cover...HAHA. Wow that is retarded.

Nope, nothing to do with it. Like slime said, they probably slapped the logo on the cover thinking it would increase sales a bit.

That's funny, because I automatically associate '8 films to die for' with 'avoid at all costs'.

Now now, not all of them are without merit.

Gravedancers was cool. But sadly, it was the only one that was worth watching.
Still haven't seen Captivity. I'll get around to it someday.

yeah like The Abandoned
Gravedancers and wicked little things (to a lesser extent) balanced them for me.

A few people on the board here recommended Gravedancers to me, and it's probably the best straight-to-video horror movie I've seen in a really long time (I actually think it would've done pretty well in theaters if it could've gotten a PG-13, but overall, I wasn't so satisfied. Is this gonna be an annual thing? Are they gonna release 8 Films to Die For every year now?

I'd rather stare at glow in the dark dog turds.
Haven't bothered with any of the after dark/ to die for films. Hated that marketing campaign. Too scary for theaters, really meant too costly to just throw out DTV. So lets make some bucks charging people 70 bucks to watch these at a festival.

I thought Capitivty was really good and kept me on the edge of the seat.

Captivity sucks so I'm not defending it, but the slip cover stated "FROM THE STUDIO BEHIND 8 FILMS TO DIE FOR". That's not false advertising.

Gravedancers and the other 8 Films To Die For were theatrically released. And yes, the Horrorfests are annual. The newest 8 Films To Die For opens theatrically for one week only, starting on November 9th 2007.

I didn't think it was that bad compared to some of the crap I've seen...but it could have been a hell of a lot better. The killer wasn't convincing at all and the plot really didn't make much sense to me ... but to each his own, I guess.

This was my first attempt at watching a movie in the category of "torture porn" so maybe that explains it, but the twist caught me off-guard. That's when the movie started to hit me. It reminded me of the original TCM movie which take you into what feels like an parallel universe to our own reality. I thought the movie was actually really good to be honest.
