Just watched this a few nights ago and I have to say I really liked it. It was slow in the beginning, but once it kicked in, it was ON! I loved it. Kurt Russell and Tracie Thoms (the black kick ass driver) made this movie for me. Brilliance from both of them. I can definitely see why people would be annoyed by it, but this movie kicked ass for me.

I like Kurt Russell and Quentin Tarantino but I really just couldn't stand this movie. The Stuntman Mike character turning into a sniveling wimp near the end of the movie just really turned me off. He's a hardcore badass throughout the whole movie then he turns into a giant pussy with 15 minutes left :(

I found that to be quite funny actually, and unexpected.

me 2! I can totally see what you mean though by him becoming a pussy. But his performance as said pussy made me piss myself. I kind of took it as, "hey you fucked witht he wrong car this time." So, I liked that about it, but you are right. Once the tables were turned, he didn't put up much of a fight. But still a badass movie for me.

The movie was great. I only wish Tarantino had cut the chat between the girls just a tad. I started to drift off after awhile.

Yeah alittle too much chatting between the girls but overall I liked it. Stuntman Mike was a great character.

Stuntman Mike was a great character. I like those characters that put on a totally badass persona, but when the tables are turned, turn into pussies! It made me like his character more knowing that he was more human than what he showed off.

Kurt Russell was great in this movie, and the good parts were good. Having said that the slow parts took up 90% of the movie. Slow slow slow slow slow.

 Poor Quentin can't get away from massive amounts of needless character dialogue not matter how hard he tries.

I figured Jerky would enjoy it more than Planet Terror.

I too thought it was a boring flick.

Well Planet Terror to me was endless gags that didn't really work and endless action that bored me to tears. And a non-linear storyline that was ridiculous....although I know it was supposed to be. Not that I wasn't bored by the dialogue in Death Proof....oh yes I was. I would say cut at least 20 minutes of it....add more of the 3 girls from the second half and you have a near perfect movie.

I loved the first car crash, I thought it was really well done showing what happened to each of the characters. And the final car chase was heart pounding, and the rest was shit. I could of done without the ugly sheila doing the lap dance too.

It was hilarious when Kurt punked out.

I think Death Proof is great. Although there was plenty of dialogue, the movie went along at a good enough pace for me. And the end just punctuated the film with great action sequences and a nice role reversal of the villain and victims.

Movie was boring as hell... if it hadn't been for the that one scene of supreme carnage, I would've slit my wrists...

Not really a good movie but a "cool" movie. Mostly a bunch of wasted nonsense but the good parts were really entertaining.

aren't Grindhouse movies supposed to be filled with a lot of talking and over the top action scenes? I'm not an expert on the subject, but I believe I heard that somewhere.

Well the one and only thing Grindhouse movies are suppose to be are low budget films. Not $40 million dollar films that suck on purpose.
They suck due to the limited budget. The new Grindhouse is just like you Cmurder, an imposter and a fake...

A grindhouse flick is a micro budget film that entertains despite it's budgetory constrinats. It is not a big budget film mascarading as a cheap film. Who in their right mind makes a $20,000,000 flick, look like a $200,000 film?
Only idiots!

Tarantino and Rodriguez wanted to make a Grindhouse double feature for the pure substance of fun. and I highly doubt that they would have been given only $200,000 for them not only making a movie, but joining forces. Tarantino had a more "grindhouse" feel because it had shitty dialog and about two over the top scenes. that's what they are supposed to be.

No they are suppose to be low budget fare. In which over abundance of sex, gore, and violence are implied to entertain, due to budget limitiations. Like not being able to afford good actors, effects, sets, and film.
Small budget cheesy movies are a success, due to the small cost and relatively high return on the dollar spent (in production).
A big budget movie that is bad usually flops and either loses a profit or breaks even. Which is exactly what happened with Grindhouse.

Infact alot of the low budgeted spoof trailers looked like better films then Planet Terror and Death Proof.
They took huge budgets and tried to purposely make poor quality films. While the real low budget Grindhouse films attempted to make the best film possible within it's obvious limitations.

That is the difference, but you can go ahead and believe whatever they tell you.

I think the Machette mock trailer was better than the entire death proof movie. it was ok, but like everyone else is saying, waaay too much dumb, uninteresting dialogue. if it wasnt for the accumulated 20 mins of leg removal, face runover with a tire, lapdance, and dropkick to the face this movie wouldve been shit. ive got to say, Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies EVER but i really think tarantino has more boring aspects to his work than interesting ones. Planet Terror however....instant classic.
