Can anyone recommend me some decent instrumental bands?
I'm into 65 Days of Static at the moment. They're awesome.

Totally agree... Their version of 'In The Hall Of The Mountain King' is like a totally kickass descent into hellish maddness... fuckin ROCKS!
Who'd a thunk that cellos could kick so much ass?

The instrumental music I end up listening to falls into one of two categories: cheesy electronic music or over-the-top avant garde that it's just not worth getting excited about.

Metal bands that are good are: Slipknot, Cradle of Filth, Lamb of God, & Into Eternity. Check them out if you haven't heard of any of them cuz those are the best instrumentally in metal music.
In just rock or old rock check out: HIM, Flyleaf, Stone Sour, Rush, & The Allman Brothers Band. Those are good too.

The biggest rofl for me was the point where Slipknot was the best instrumentally. I can roll about 60 bands off the top of my head where he is completely wrong.
Dave Matthews Band!

Into Eternity is good, but hardly the best.
Those three bands are embarrassing, and I wouldn't even call Slipknot metal. Not that CoF or LoG are much better...

I just got to hear more slipknot earlier this week. Listening with new ears -- without hearing every 10 seconds how f'n f'd up kewl they f'n are -- they almost seem to be trying to bridge older metal with the newer stuff.
What's metal today isn't what was metal twelve years ago, nor was the the same as the twelve years before it.

The better metal nowadays imo is stuff like Poison the Well and Dillinger.
