Tim Burton has signed a deal with the Walt Disney Co. to direct and produce 3-D movies based on Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and his own short film "Frankenweenie."
The "Alice" adaptation, combining live-action and performance-capture technology, will start shooting in early 2008.
Burton will then start work on a full-length version of his 1984 cult favorite "Frankenweenie," about a pet dog who is brought back to life by his loyal owner in a very unusual way. The film will be shot in stop-motion animation.
Burton is putting the finishing touches on the Johnny Depp musical "Sweeney Todd," which DreamWorks/Paramount will release domestically next month.

Both sound good. Lets hope the Wonderland one will look better than Beowulf.

As awesome as this is, seems like there's a lot of ALice in Wonderland stuff coming out. I think they where still doing that horror video game version of Alice as a film with Sarah Michelle Geller and I recall Manson was still wanting to do his film Phantasmigoria.

That horror Alice idea has been around for ages. I doubt we will see anything on that for a while.

I love the idea of Tim Burton doing anything animated. Wether it be 3D or stop-frame animation. It'll be awhile before we see these films probably. But they'll be worth the wait.
Tim Burton usually has good stuff, i'd watch this if it comes out.

Opterasis, you're not alone. The only movies I love by Tim Burton are The Nightmare Before Christmas, and he didn't even direct that one, and Batman Returns, and that's only due to Michelle's performance as Catwoman. I'm tired of all his movies, especially the ones he does with Johnny Depp!
Corpse Bride sucked; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has grown on me but I still love the original better; I have no desire to even watch Sweeny Todd; Edward Scissorhands got old after the first time I watched it, even though I did enjoy it the first time through; and what the hell is Ed Wood?
Those are just a few of his movies and I'm really not intrigued to see either movie he does. Frankenweenie was a bore and a rip of Frankenstein, pretty much frame for frame except for the fact that it was a boy's dog and not some mad scientist's way to give life. Alice has been done, repeatedly.
As for McGee's Alice, Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't involved any longer and that sucks! I doubt the movie will ever get made, sadly. It was a good video game.

Love the animated stuff by Tim Burton. Glad to know he's gonna do these projects. My favorite animated film from him is Vincent. I only wished it were longer. :(
