Eli Roth's faux trailer for the holiday slasher flick THANKSGIVING turned out to be a highlight of the GRINDHOUSE experience, but not exactly the first thing you might expect to generate merchandise.
And yet, real stuff based on the fake flick of Roth's demented feast are on the way! As the director himself announced on his Myspace page: "The first step towards turning a fake trailer into a real movie is to convince the unsuspecting public that it actually exists, and what better way to do that than with a Thanksgiving t-shirt and poster of the Dan Frisch turkey?"
The goods will be available at Hot Topic, so you can pick up a shirt with that killer tagline next time you're shopping for oversized shoes, ugly jewelry and Bettie Page paraphernalia. Or if you'd prefer not to be seen entering the store (for purposes other than scoping out the Goth counter cuties), you can grab them online.
Roth also assures us that another THANKSGIVING trailer (a second helping) will appear in the planned TRAILER TRASH flick, his feature-length collection of fake previews.

Why in the hell is he milking a 30 second trailer? Im sure these shirts are gonna be a #1 best seller since all the kiddies are hardcore Grindhouse movie fanatics! :die:

What a waste of time. He should just make the movie and stop wasting time with these fake trailers.

90 minutes of fake trailers? :die: but I'll probably watch it cause I'm a big pussy and that's why I watch horror movies in the first place.

what about ninety minutes of fake trailers? Grindhouse only had four fake trailers, and Machete is already being adapted into a straight-to-DVD movie by Rodriguez.

Not to mention the ton of DVD's out that are nothing but trailers of real grindhouse flicks.

Yes, Danny Trejo is the one playing as Machete.
I'll definately see it then.

Grindhouse is the most overrated movie of the decade. It wasn't good and certainly not worth owning.
It was worth downloading though.

i would love to see " thanksgiving" made into a movie, altghough you shouldn't take it to seriously..after all...we are talking about Eli Roth..i mean..Cabin Fever had its corky comedic areas.
but i like the trailer idea.
i just think it would be a nice way to waste time, i mean..if your not sober.
and grindhouse fucking rooooled.
i think a lot of peopel took the movie to seriously, i think its intention was to just sit back and let go of all movie expectations..then you could really enjoy it.
it's one of my favorites.

Hm. The trailer isn't too hard to find on Youtube.
Would have been nicer if all the music wasn't lifted from Creepshow.

The gags worked for a brief trailer, but if roth's ego stretched this thing out for a feature length movie, it be horrible.

You opinion. I thought Death Proof was excellent, send up to 70s horror/action movies. But thats My Opionion, not yours/

Weird, I've heard nothing but people badmouthing Grindhouse most of the time, so IMO, its fairly underrated.

I think a lot of people were turned off by the 3 1/4 hour runtime.

Come on, it's a discussion board, you don't have to just dismiss other peoples' opinions to avoid an argument, that's part of the fun of this, arguing your point. Why do you think Grindhouse was underrated, Darkgod?

Well first off it is two films. People forget that and lump it in togather as one. Death proof and Planet Terror are 2 seperate films. Now Planet Terror i think is the lesser of two, and more of a showing of what 70's films where like. In that I mean the B movies you could see at a grindhouse on 42nd st.
Death Proof is the better of the two i think, because its builds Tension. Sure it takes a while to get there, and people say there is too much talking. You went to see a Quentin Tarrentino movie and didn't think it would be a lot of talking? Anyway, the character isnt some suped up monster. he is a normal guy who kills with a car. And preety cooly I might add. The tension builds cause you know this guy is bad, yet he is talkikng to these chicks and eventually drives one home. You just know somehting is gonna happen. When the pull to the end of the parking lot and he says left or right. She says right. And he just shakes his head and gives that line about being scared. that was fucking good movie scares. A real life OH SHIT KURT RUSSEL IS ABOUT TO KILL ME.
This is in contrast to other movies coming out where no one gives a shit if someone dies. In the Haloween remake, I didnt care if Laurie Strode lived. i hated the bitch cause she was annoying as fuck and had no likeable charcteristics.

I agree with you in-so-far as Death Proof is concerned... C-span is more exciting than DeathProof.... If I want to watch a bunch of tough women sit around yapping on and on about nothing of consequence, I'll go hang out with my lesbian sister and her friends... however, I thought Planet Terror was a fun, albeit retarded, movie, worthy of my shitty movie collection. I'm sure glad they split up the dvd release... at least I didn't have to live with the guilt of wasting more money on DeathProof.
