Anyways, as for the whole insect-monster idea. I'm not so sure. Look at the poster. The Statue of Liberty has obvious claw marks.

In the trailer, this is the part where the woman in the middle (behind the shadow screen) is being attacked by "something". Well, these somethings look like two other people. Is she being restrained by the military, or does the monster release parasites of some crazy virus that infects people!? hmmmm....

Hmm, Ive read several times that it's supposedly the Cthulu (spelling) monster. Since it comes from the water that would make sense. I'm seeing it regardless. That pic Booberry posted is way strange, i can't explain that one what so ever, looks very interesting, i don't like the whole little monster idea, let's hope they learned from the POS Godzilla from '98.

Not sure what it might be really, but what I see and hear suggests insectoid creature. Between the rumors of 'spawning smaller creatures', the vague pictures (not just this one) of what appears to be a shell like material and multi-jointed arms, the appearance of damage on the statue of liberty, not to mention the odd clicking sounds heard in the new trailer near the end... its just a feeling. Could be way off, but it is just as possible as the other popular guesses.

Where its from is quite beyond me...

its two guys in Hazmat suits. the woman's stomach expands, so maybe Slusho! does play a role.
