Final Destination 4 3D

David R. Ellis is coming back to New Line for more death.

The director has signed to direct and develop "Final Destination 4," the latest installment of New Line's popular horror series, which the studio plans to shoot in 3-D.

The premise of the series is that even if you cheat death once, a force that is death itself will stalk you until it finishes what is started, usually in a gruesome fashion. While plot details for "FD4" are being kept under wraps, the movie will stand alone: It will feature new teens facing new forms of death.

The script was written by Eric Bress, who co-wrote "Final Destination 2."

Ellis directed the second installment, which was praised for its elaborately orchestrated killings.

New Line's Richard Brener and Walter Hamada are overseeing the project, which has no start date.

The "Final Destination" films have been solid performers for New Line since they debuted in 2000. The first film grossed $53.3 million, the 2003 sequel made $46.5 million and the third, released in 2006, collected $54 million. The movies usually are made for at least half that and do well on home video.

Ellis' credits include "Cellular" and "Snakes on a Plane" for New Line. He also is known for his second unit directing, having worked on such films as "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" and "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." He is in post on the thriller "Asylum" for Hide Park.

I love the second one. Third one although there was some good kills (nail gun) it added nothing at all to the franchise. It was more or less a revision of part 1. Doing the same thing again in a different situation. I dont see how there would be a need for a fourth one. But I gotta admit if theres good deaths and maybe some tit shots in there. I'll end up atleast renting it.

My older brother and I went to FD3 THREE TIMES!!! And took different people with us to show them the awesome flick!

Funny story. When we first went to FD3, it was like 9pm. Well after Frankie's death scene, the film just stopped and acted up. We all just sat there. The film caught on fire (we could see it on the screen). We all just sat there.

Minutes later we hear a girl scream up in the projection room. They tell us it'll take an hour to fix, and give us EACH two free movie passes and tell us to come back the next day.

There was say, 15 of us or so standing there waiting as they gave us the free passes. We were all talking about "omgz we're all gonna die in order now". some guy was like "whoever sat up the closest is gonna die first" so we were all lol'ing.

best movie experience eva.

I think Beowulf used a newer form of 3D. My brother tried to explain it all to me -- something to do with really extreme frame rates and polarized lenses.

Red/Blue 3D is probably only a novelty these days.

No, red\blue 3D is still the basis for Digital 3D. When we went to see Beowulf, they forgot to turn on the blue, so during the 3D previews the screen was a light red and all shaky. When they finally switched on the blue lens, everything came together.

FINAL DESTINATION producer Craig Perry confirms that the opening disaster in New Line Cinema's HD 3-D sequel will in fact be during a high-speed race car crash where an object will fly into the stands killing (or just missing) some of the audience members!

In addition, he tells is that that the high-def 3-D technology they're using is the exact same system as the one James Cameron is using for AVATAR. He explains that they're going to be very careful about how they use the 3-D in the film. "Having something pop out at the audience every four minutes gets boring," he explains. He wants to use the 3-D to add depth and drama to the film, which if done like MONSTER HOUSE can really add to the experience of the film.

I loved the first Final Destination. The story was awesome. The deaths were methodic and brutal. Final Destination 3 was the shit. It had a good story and great deaths. FD2 sucked ass. The opening deaths were cool as hell, but it quickly went downhill soon after. The only shocker I thought in 2 was when the teenager died.

If you really believe that you need to go back and rewatch em all...because 4 has one of the most clever and integrated plots with the other films that I have ever seen in a horror film. Saw owns everything final desitination has to offer. If you want to watch mindless dribble that hasn't had any real story development since part 2, then be my guest. Me, I like a good story that continues and evolves with the sequels, not just a franchise that remakes itself every time a sequel comes out. FD 3 had absolutely NO progress in what death is or how to actually stop it or ANYTHING. It was a simple remake of the first. If thats all you need, congrats. Leave the grown up horror to the adults.

I can't disagree that Final Destination has no plot. I hated the 3rd film. It was basically a remake of the first film. Different scenarios but in the end the same movie. First final Destination was alright, and I really liked the second one. It atleast attempted to go somewher else with it. The third one was just pointless.

Although if you enjoyed the deaths then your entitled to your opinion that you liked it and that doesn't make you wrong. I myself just didn't care for it. And I think thats why its going 3D, because they realize they have no storyline their just remaking the same thing over and over so their hoping the 3D will put butts in seats.

I enjoyed the first 3 Saw films but I kinda got over those types of flicks although eventually I'll end up seeing Saw 4 one day. And I'll probably eventually see Saw 5 althoug I'm in no big hurry. But not in a big hurry for Final Destination 4 either. But I know I'll probably get curious and go see it like most of us geniuses do, cuz I've never seen a horror flick in 3D. So hell, the old 3D ploy may actually work on me if it seems like their gonna have some good death scenes. And boobs, boobs never hurt (they really need to 3D that part). Wow, I read all the on-set visits. There weren't MANY spoilers. So that was a plus.

Let's just say, when I first heard it was 3D, I was disappointed. But the more I read about it the more amazing it sounds!!! Now I'm super-frickin-excited! The 3D is going to kick so much ass!

And the ending!!! It sounds AMAZING!!! It'll really freak about everyone in the theatre, if done right.

So yeah, I'll be waiting PATIENTLY until August 14th, 2009, for THIS. I hope it's worth the wait. :oogle:
