I've been hearing good reviews for this movie so far. I just wanted to know for those who has seen the movie, how was it?
I might go check it out tomorrow.

just got back from seeing it. Actually went for no country for old men and ended up just sneaking into the mist as well. Based off of what I saw in trailers and such I wasn't really expecting much but I was surprised. Really fun and somewhat gory movie (even though some was bad CGI) I actually ended up not really caring for NCFOM that much and really enjoying the mist.

I just got back from seeing it too and I kinda enjoy this more then 1408. 1408 was good, but this was a lot better and gory. The ending I didn't care for it because I thought it was kinda confusing. For a bug monster movie like this was pretty much entertaining.
8/10

Gonna see this tonight, hopefully I'll like it... but for me nothin' could be any worse than 1408, I can't stand that movie.

I think i'm gonna check this most likely on Sat or Sun since i got a ticket voucher that's worth $ 12.00. It's a good thing since they just raised prices for tickets that aren't matinee's from $9.75 to $10.00 even and also gonna see Hitman too.

Meh, didn't like it, it got annoying. The ending was typical Stephen King too. D+ at best for me.

Actually, Stephen King had nothing to do with the movie, other than writing the original short story this movie is based off of. Darabont changed the ending from the story, but Stephen King approved it.

Reading alot about the movie and watching the trailers, if it the character I think it is...thats enough to make the movie worth my time.

Yeah the clapped in my theatre too.
I really liked it, and I know people dont like the ending but I did like that. Only thing I hated was the cinematography. I hate when amatuers do the zoom in while the camera is moving. It looks like dads home videos. They did a simliar thing in Open Water and it was so annoying in that too.

(possible spoilers)
Yeah the cinematography was nothing special, one too many super close ups of heads when they aren't that necessary.
But other than that little rant, I must say I really, really enjoyed this film. The casting, acting, dialogue, story, ending, everything really settled well with me.
The character development was well done, and I enjoyed how we knew the names of every person who had an on-screen, meaningful death. (I think the only ones who we didn't know where a couple who left the store with Norton)
Our theatre also began clapping when the bitch died, really made my day. I can't wait to see this movie again!

Caught the flick earlier -- it was better than I expected. Didn't really care for the ending much, and people clapped in my theater too, which is why I hate going to see movies when they are barely released, especially with the groups that like to add their own commentary track while watching the film. Will write up a review and post it on the board soon, then when my comp is running again, I will post it on UHM.

By the way, I have read the original story, but it was so long ago that I barely remember anything. How much of the movie is similar to the story? I know the ending is dif. for sure and I don't remember reading about as many creatures.

spoilers:
I know I would have been a lot more pissed if he kept the original ending (the land cruiser just driving off into the mist). I knew getting deeper and deeper into the movie that it was so intriguing and I just wanted some sort of closure. 'going off into the whatever' endings are fine if it's like DOTD '79 where I know there will be another film to continue the phenomonon. But I knew there wouldn't be a sequal to this from Darabont, and I definitely didn't want one.

For some reason the ending really got to me. It's not that I didn't like it, I did, I thought the ending to the movie was terrifying in a way that the movie was not (although it was pretty scary).
The ending to the book was good, too, but that worked for the book. I think that things that work in literature form don't really work sometimes for movie versions.
The message boards are on fire with people bitching and moaning about the ending. All that tells me is that Darabont got to people, and that's what counts. It affected people in a way, and to me that makes it good.

I enjoyed it, nice change of pace to the usual saw clones, and japanese remakes we've been getting lately.
And in my opinion on of the few movies that are actually better than the source material.

The ending is truly terrifying. Thomas Jane played it very well.
