Man this movie SUCKED! I watched it off Netflix last night cuz I figured since they were remaking it I should check the original. Being a slasher fan and all that. Another Jamie Lee Curtis outing. A prank is pulled on a nerd at a fraternity and years later he comes back for revenge cuz apparently the prank drove him straight to the looney bin. His reaction to the prank was laughably stupid. Well anyways its 3 years later and all the seniors (Jamie Lee now being one of them) are having a party on a train. Anyways the one who got the prank pulled on him shows up and everytime he kills someone he puts on their costume so he won't get noticed.

Ok now that we've got that out of the way. I'll get back into why this movie sucked. The acting is pretty bad, although it being a slasher movie I could forgive that. What annoyed the hell out of me was the fact that pretty much everytime someone died their scream would turn into the sound of the train whistle, and you would see the outside of the train. So pretty much everybody dies offscreen which is pretty freakin annoying. Already knowing who the killer is takes away any suspense. And instead of trying to act all inconspicous (sp?) like someone probably would in his situation, he walks around like a Michael Myers reject. And on top of that the movie is BORING AS HELL. David Copperfield is in the flick so he makes it entertaining for a little while........but just a little while. And I know theres a pretty good chance the remake will wind up just as stupid as the "when a stranger calls" remake. But still after seeing this piece of crap the remake atleast wont be any worse than the original. All I gotta say is remake away boys.......remake away.

Oh and I've just got to mention this spoiler about the ending so highlight if you wanna read......in the end when the train conductor or whoever he was hits the killer with the shovel and knocks him out of the train I laughed my ass off. All you hear is a CATHUNK and he falls out. Hilarious.

Decent flick. I remember it was a highly sought after film on ebay before it became available on DVD, though, I never understand why since it wasn't a particularly good film.

Well this will probably be the only time I say this but thanks Chief :coolbeer:
I was interested in buying this flick because I didn't remeber it from childhood, but you saved me the pain. Your reviewa/opinions usually aren't 'that' different than mine so i'll definatly skip this flick.
So thanks again :drunks:

I was looking forward to seeing it since I'd always heard it was somewhat of a "classic". Boring as fuck.

I enjoyed it... nothing spectacular, but it beats the hell out of a lot of so-called "classic" 80's slasher flicks like Prom Night.

On a side note... it's kinda funny, I was looking at your review of the Simpson's Game, Chief, and I was telling my wife that it might be worth checking out because you hate just about everything... then next thread I click on is this one, and I'm like "See! I told you he hates everything!". :D

I am trying to remember back to it (even though I own a copy) and I remember thinking many of the situations like Curtis being stuck in the cage with the killer outsite bashing the lights were pretty freaky, and also having the killer be in the cabin after the person barricaded themselves in was awesome. So yeah, decent at least for me.

I liked this flick growing up as a kid in the 80's.

I liked it. A good number of scenes were really creepy.

During the Curtis Scream Era, IE Fog, Prom Night, Halloween, and Terror Train. I think its the lesser of the other three, but otherwise its still decent. Good characters if I remember right.

Prom Night is awful, if it's worse then that it really sucks.

No, atleast I don't believe I have. I was gonna blind buy but decided not to after readin Chiefs review. Offscreen kills anger me greatly!!

an offscreen kill can be done very well if they just put some effort into it. I mean almost/every death being offscreen would be annoying regardless. But like I said with just alittle effort and creativity and offscreen kill can really work. They just hardly try. My personally favorite is the chick with the camera from the remake of House on Haunted Hill. When they watched the footage, that was creepy.

The movie is not about graphic kills.
