Just giving you all a head's up on what to expect in the new version of the message board that'll be released sometime soon (not sure when). For those unaware, the message board is running on vBulletin version 3.6.8. A new 3.7 model will be introduced in the upcoming weeks that'll have a lot of cool new features.
Some highlights will be the fact that users will essentially have their own profile page. Think Myspace, but not as big. You'll be able to host your own personal albums full of pictures of yourself or movies you like, and you can leave messages back and forth on your page kinda like leaving comments on your myspace profile.
You can also creature your own "social group", but I may not allow this feature since it's kinda unnecessary. It's basically where you can great your own group to meet other people with similar interests (I.E. myspace groups), but that's basically what this message board is for anyway.
Another interesting new addition will be for thread titles. Now if you want a ask a question it can have the optional prefix before your title that'll say "Question:" or "Important:" if you want serious replies for a specific topic.
This is all just the tip of the iceberg, but I thought I'd give you all a head's up, so you know what to expect when these changes take affect. If you want to see pics and more details on this you can check'em here:

Sounds cool. Will we have to re register though?
To quote a man from Kazakhstan, "Very nice."

Those days are over my friend. In fact, I've been upgrading the board periodically for the past few years without people knowing, so had this new update not offer these new features you probably wouldn't even notice.

Yes, I watched that for the first time last night.
Fright...I just have a suggestion. Is there any way we could get some sort of "NFW" (not for work) option that can be clicked on and added to thread titles that fall under that category? This way, people making threads that aren't safe for workplace viewing will have something to signify that ahead of time.
I didn't click on that one at work (I read the posts first), but I'm afraid one day I'll click on something like that and get myself into trouble.
Oh and...Free the taco! :D

I'm sure something like that can be arranged. Everything's still in beta, so they might have something like that by the time it's released.

Still in the beta stages. I can add it now if I wanted, but being that it's in beta we'd probably experience a lot of weird bugs and such. It's easier just to wait until a stable release is out.

Some people don't approve of change but I welcome whatever comes our way. You won't know it it's good/bad until it happens.

Just wanted to update everyone that beta testing has finally upgraded to the "Release Candidate" stage, which means that all the major bugs have been resolved, and all that remains are minor ones.
Usually these Release Candidate stages last up to three stages before going "Gold" or a stable release, which is when UHM will upgrade. Hopefully we'll be able to see this new version of the board sometime this or next month.

I'm really looking forward to upgrading, since the board hasn't really had a change like this in quite some time. Of course, at first glance you won't notice much difference, but there will be many new features that will become apparent upon further inspection (some of which I discussed in the first post). I'll go over all the new features once again when it is released. :D

They've reached the 2nd (and I think final) beta stage, and I've recently updated the board to the 3.6.9 version, which is the final stable version before 3.7 is out. Should be any day now.

An exploit and potential security risk caused VBulletin to release 3.6.10, so 3.7 has been slightly delayed.
