A man in Topeka, Kansas decided to write a book about churches around the country. He started by flying to San Francisco and started working east from there.

Going to a very large church, he began taking photographs and making notes. He spotted a golden telephone on the vestibule wall and was intrigued with a sign, which read 'Calls: $10,000 a minute.'

Seeking out the pastor he asked about the phone and the sign. The pastor answered that this golden phone is, in fact, a direct line to heaven and if he pays the price he can talk directly to God.

The man thanked the pastor and continued on his way. As he continued to visit churches in Seattle, Dallas, St. Louis, Chicago, Milwaukee, and around the United States, he found more phones, with the same sign, and the same answer from each pastor.

Finally, he arrived in Massachusetts. Upon entering a church in Boston, MA, he once again saw the golden telephone. This time, however, the sign read 'Calls: 35 cents.'

Fascinated, he asked to talk to the pastor, 'Reverend, I have been in cities all across the country and in each church I have found this golden telephone and have been told it is a direct line to Heaven and that I could talk to God, but in the other churches the cost was $10,000 a minute. Your sign reads only 35 cents a call. Why?'

The pastor, smiling benignly, replied, 'Son, you're in Boston, Massachusetts now, home of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. You're in God's Country...it's a local call.

I just found this one on the net:

A man from Boston moved to New York.

As he wandered the streets he stopped at an antique shop and decided to go in. On looking around he noticed a very strange looking bronze cat which had a tag on it saying, "Bronze Cat $30.00, Story $150.00".

The man was very curious and asked the salesman to explain.

"Well" said the man, "its just like it says, $30 for the cat and $150 for its story".

"I'll just take the cat," said the man.

"Very well, but you will be back," said the salesman.

The man left the shop with the cat in his pocket.

As he walked down the street he heard a strange mewing sound. On turning around he noticed there were a couple of cats following him.

The further he walked the more cats seemed to follow him. As he got to the Brooklyn Bridge he turned to see thousands of cats behind him.

"Screw this!" he said to himself and threw the bronze cat into the river. All the cats jumped into the river too and were drowned.

The man returned to the shop where he bought the cat.

"I knew you would be back. $150.00 for the story," said the salesman.

"Forget the story," said the man. "Have you got a bronze Yankees fan?"

For the Jets fans I do beleive their was a story in the paper today about how Last season they were filming from an illegal spot on the field, just tossing taht out their. The Jets are Rats and Hypocrites for doing exactly the same thing as the patriots did haha. LOL at the jets being 3-10 while the Patriots are 13-0
LOL at how the Red Sox have won two world series in the past 5 years and how the Yankees havent won one in about 8 years. I congradulate the Yankees for having the biggest choke artist on a sports team ever, and also having the greatest collapse in post season history of any sport. Good Job overpaying players past their prime as well. Please dont make any excuses , just face the fact New York teams are going down the Drains.

PS Nice move getting rid of one the greatest coaches ever in Torre

I think the whole thing drips with irony and hypocrites alike.

Years ago, pre 2000 when all Boston sports teams stunk it up for decades outside of the Celtics in the 80s and the Bruins to an extent in the 70s. It was okay for sports fanbases from other teams to shit all over Boston sports whenever they wanted. However when things started turning around in Beantown starting in 2001 with the Patriots. Gradually over time, everyone started crying foul and plastered this fanbase for being arrogant and obnoxious over the last several years yet the same thing was being done to this fanbase for decades prior.

Granted maybe since things started turning around, this fanbase has become an annoyance on some levels. Nevertheless, its not like this wasnt going on before with other fanbases both towards Boston fanbases and between other rival franchise fanbases.

So in the end, I suppose it comes down to this. People shouldnt get their panties in a bundle because people from Boston talk shit because its not like it hasnt been done before and for far longer to them. There will be a time when the Pats are at the bottom of barrel again. There will be a time when the Red Sox are losers again and the Yankees or god forbid, a NL team starts racking up championships.

These things all go in cycles. Some people out there, particurlarly the young ones need to realize that before trashing all things Boston. Not saying Boston is the Heaven of sports fanbases, but what im saying is what goes around, comes around.

Boston sports will suck again but until then every other fanbase shouldnt cry because this fanbase feels full of themselves with the near decade success of two franchises and maybe more.

Every other fanbase should get there due at some point. Even the Lions and Cardinals or the Clippers in the NBA, etc.

What does that have to do with the Spurs? I guess you could post a picture of steroids and thereby void all championships the MLB has had since the 80s.

They didn't do anything that would indicate cheating...they won fair and square.

You would think that a second World Series championship in four seasons would make members of Red Sox Nation less annoying. Already acknowledged as the lowest class of fans in sports. In another example of douchebaggery Alex Beam of the Boston Globe explains that everyone should pity Yankee fans. Don’t be sorry for us, we don’t need your pity. You are the prime example of why Red Sox fans have taken the title as Public Enemy #1. You can’t just be happy with winning; you need to continue to find ways to drive a stake deeper into the hearts of anyone outside Red Sox Nation. Your constant need for attention and assurance that you actually finished on top is disgusting. It’s not like the Sox came out of mediocrity, their payroll is second most in the majors. There were no surprises here. The difference between Yankee fans and Red Sox fans is CLASS. You never had it and at this rate you’ll never get it. You’re a reality show winner getting his 15 min of fame and making himself look like a douche. You’re a bunch of idiots, keep rubbing it our faces, well remember.

In all fairness, that article combined with what I said goes to show.

What goes around, comes around.

If Yankee fans dont want to admit it, then thats another story. No denying Red Sox Nation has its fair share of worms, nevertheless no fanbase is really cut and dry clean.

Their the most hated now simply because they've won more recently than the Yankees. The Patriots are hated now because Belichick really isnt a likeable guy outside of New England and people who like his style. The Patriots are hated because they win and people think they shouldnt. They are also hated because of the spygate fiasco which questioned the validity of their wins/championships. Neverthless with people predicting them to fold just they like they predicted them to fold in 03 and 04, they somehow find a way to keep things in house which erks people because their teams clubhouse cant do the same under trying circumstances.

In the end, both of those organizations will fall back, people will still talk shit whether their winning or not. Other organizations will come forward, especially in the NFL where the salary cap comes into play. Once MLB comes to its senses and institutes a salary cap, both the Sox and the Yankees will be subject to mediocrity as the talent pool spreads even more IMO.

For anyone to consider the Red Sox fan more annoying then the Yankee fan is prolly just that, a Yankee fan.

After winning the Champ this year, Yank fans on the board were already talking about how many they had in comparison to the Sox.

The Pats are a evil empire, but it's media created and started from them bums in NY, Tom Brady was that likeible underdog, and now that he clearly is the best player in the leauge, the hate comes with the success, unless things go horribly wrong, they should at the VERY least be playing in there 5 AFC champ game in 7 years, and absolutely no reason to not believe the Pats will be doing it again next season, more room for hate.

I am not a Yankee fan but i find Boston fans annoying as hell. Not even limited to the Red Sox, its every Boston team. And not only are they annoying, they are delusional as well.
I am friends with a Celtics fan.... this constantly comes out of his mouth (and some how celtics nation people on the web seem to agree) "Rajon Rondo was one of the top 3 point guards in the league last season. " Which is just hilarious and sad to me.

Im not a huge baseball fan, but i live in Tampa with way too many Yankees fans. And i can say this much.... If the Yanks win a title they just raise their heads as if to say "yea yea we won another title we know". Boston fans try to be as degrading to every other team as they can be.

Max Payne
12-12-2007, 09:17 PM
He isn't a real Celtic fan obviously, Ive watched the Celtics through those shitty years and now Im going to be rewarded with the good ones.

Rondo couldn't of been a top 3 PG last year, considering Docs track record of making Rookies earn there playing time he was second string to Sebastian Telfair.

Now, Rondo certainly is a top 3 prospect from last years draft, PG wise, but certainly not in the entire leauge.

I understand how people can find Boston fans annoying, Pat fans are excessively aragont and cocky, some times down right rude, Ive seen it all over the boards.

I some times fall into that category, but never un justified, Revenant on this board went on a tirade about how Im completely biased and what not towards the Pats in one of those NFL threads because I said clearly they had the best team in the leauge, and that the Bears werent even close.

As it turns out, I was completely right, this Pats team is the best team in the leauge, and when it's all said and done with, time will go on and it will be remembered as the greatist team of all time.

Thats just a fact, no one can deny it, the ones who try are just people who cling to the 80's 49ers or 70's Steelers.

You can't just look at this season of the Pats and use it to reflect it's greatness, lets assume they win the SB, thats 4 in 7 years, 5 AFC Championship appearances, 15 playoff wins, two 14-2 seasons, and potentially a perfect 16-0 season.

That with Brady just 31? Moss 32? And as it stands, right now, the Pats have the second pick in the draft with the best coach in the leauge. Thats a window of 5 more years..

Its unlike anything anyone who has seen, the Pat fans went through there shit years and now there gloating about being the cream of the crop, it pisses some people off but its well earnt and it does not go un justified.

I feel the same way about the Yankees of the 90's the way Im sure people do now about the Pats, sick of hearing about them, sick of them always winning, sick of the Pat fan talking about it.

But its a cycle that hits one team every so many years and when its gone, we can truly reflect on it and respect it.

And Im totally fine with it, one championship this or next season makes all those years worth it.

At the start of the season, I would of told you, the Celts had a great shot at getting to the finals, but wouldn't win.

But clearly they can win with the emergance of Eddie House and James Posey and legit bench players.

Hopefully it's Spurs/Celts finals, that way, if they do win, they get respect for it as opposed to beating someone like the Nuggets.

And they were the best team last year. By the looks of it...I'd say you were a Suns fan. That's all the Suns fans have been doing since 05 is whining about the Spurs.

When they get a legit defense...then we'll talk...the Suns are a gimmick team. I could understand you posting Tim Donaghy if he was the only ref...but half the calls were made by other refs...and I can't imagine two other refs being in on the gambling as well. Regardless, the Spurs didn't play one game in the playoffs and then they were crowned champions...they played at least 20 games...and they weren't all officiated by Donaghy.

I don't think the Celtics will make it to the Finals...they are beating up against a weak Eastern conference. They may be starting out the season with a ton of wins...but it's a long season. They'll burn out in the playoffs just like Dallas did last year.

Max Payne

But Dallas had to play against great competition all year, I don't think Boston will have to do that.

Other then Detroit, there isnt even a team that can compete with them, the Magic could give them trouble but I don't think they can beat them in a 7 game series.

Plus, Garnett, Pierce and Allen have had some steady rest during the fourth quarter of some games lately.
