So I work on trains... and we get permission to access a track, as we are coming around the bend, there is a train in front of us. The conducter screams to dump the train (slams the brakes) and the engineer goes into emergency. We slide to about 20 feet from his fuel tank, but don't make contact. Now we were given permission and the track was lined for us, but this idiot ran his signal and almost derailed inf ront of us, and cause a huge accident. Too make matters worse, the dispatcher asks us " Did I give you guys permission?" and then has the balls to cover up the other guys mistake and tell the bosses he didn't foul our track or run the circuit. When we got back to the office we found out the other crew didn't even get in trouble.

I hear ya on that bro. I had a job fair for business students at my university a couple of months ago before I graduated and it was a complete waste of time for me as well. Since I was a CIS student (Computer Information Systems), all they had there were accounting firms looking for accountants and straight up business firms not looking for CIS. I could only find 2-3 firms outta the supposed hundred that were looking for CIS. Then I go to class the next day and hear the people talk about how much a joke the fair was. I asked them their majors and they tell me accounting and business. To say the least I was pissed! At least they had companies in their major come and seek them!! :cussing:

got a call about 9:30 last night saying my old mans grandpa wansnt going to make it through the night and they wanted the family there. he had been in the hospital for about a week for a severe hiatal (sp) hernia. on thursday they did the surgery for that and afterwards they found out that he had a bowel obstruction. while doing that surgery they found out his appendix was inflamed and took that out. during that second surgery he was having trouble breathing and they put him on a breathing tube. yesterday he was having trouble breathing and kept trying to take the tube out. they did some xrays and called the family saying he had a blood clot in his heart. we drove down to omaha and got there about 12:30. while we were en route they did a ct scan and found that he did not have a blood clot, but that his lungs were full of fluid and that he had a very bad case of pneumonia. so we sat down there for a few hours, but he had been sedated so he wouldnt fight. they said that he was pretty much touch and go. while we were there his stats started getting better (his blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and his heart rate). the dr. told us that he is getting better, but he is not out of the woods yet.
the whole way down to omaha we were kinda freaking out because his mom had died in the hospital from a blood clot after surgery almost 2 years ago. so it was a bad/but not so bad night.
to top it all off, i made sure to tell the girls i work with that i had a family emergency and i would probably be in late, if i came to work at all. the other girl that does the same job as me was like oh well im gonna be late too cause her daughter started school today. the kids in 5th grade, so its not a monumentous occasion and the other girl whos kids go to the same school came in to work on time because i wasnt going to be there. if the shoes were switched, i would have come in on time. so any way, get home at a little after 6 this morning (we start at 6:30) and call in and tell them that i was gonna lie down and would call at 9 to see how i felt. when i called at 9 they told me that the other girl called in and was not there because her kid got the runs and had to go to the dr. so i dragged my ass out of bed and went to work. she showed up at 11 and didnt say a word.

My sister-in-law has cancer and has been getting chemo and radiation for the last month. But now the cancer is still spreading so they are stopping treatment and giving her 6 months to live. She's only 29 years old with a 2 1/2 year old and 1 1/2 year old kid. Just fucking sucks. I feel so bad for my brother right now. So far he's holding up fine but I just don't think it's hit him yet. today we went shopping to get the kids winter coats. it was a complete cluster, shopko had a huge sale on coats. some kid puked on the floor under a rack of little girls coats and all the mom had to say was clean that off your face and get over here. it was nuts, but the girls found the coats they wanted and some other clothes.my youngest got the a really cute green and pink one with fake fur around the hood and it was the last one of its kind. well apparently this angered a hispanic woman because she kept trying to take it out of our cart. so we finished up our shopping. when we got in line and the cashier looked at me and said cash or check only, our computer is down and wont take cards. fine, whatever. so as she is ringing our stuff up, the aforementioned hispanic woman and her brood get in line behind me and keeps touching nolas new coat. i pushed it forward so it was away from her and while i was digging my checkbook out of my purse, she had the nerve to pull it back and put some of her stuff on it. the cashier saw her do it and reached back and grabbed the coat and said this is yours, right and rang it up. the hispanic woman gave us both a dirty look and said something in spanish that according to what little spanish i do know translated to fucking bitches, but i could be wrong. oy, thats why i hate shopping.

I can concur with the feeling, though most of the energy is centered around me. You can always just leave for a while and take a drive somewhere for a couple of hours. That's what I usually do. Went to two of my friends birthday celebrations last night.The first one at the pub was awesome, great live band, and a fantastic, friendly atmosphere. The second...well, put it this way, my friend got so drunk, he started to abuse and be aggressive toward his guests, is reknowned for not handling his drink, and almost got drop kicked out of a third floor window by me.
