I saw this last night from Netflix. I guess they're remaking it, which, in this case, is a good thing.

The story is this if you've never heard of it: Vacationing couple go to a Spanish island where all the children have seemingly murdered the adults.

(spoilerish)
And that's about it. No answers as to why, although it seems to be a psychic link or something. And the stupidity of the adult characters made me kind of hope they would die. I mean, if you see kids playing with a dead woman's body and violating it, you don't let them run off right past you. And you don't wait until hours later to tell your wife what's happening. These leads were seriously bordering on retarded.
Another thing that got me was that someone says the island's population is just under 200. Yet for some reason we only see 5 or 6 dead adults and 100+ children. Makes no sense.

The pace was really slow, even slower than Long Weekend, but similar in tone. The story was really interesting, so I'm excited for a remake.

I thought it was a great films and if you think back to the year it was made it was pretty hard core. To have kids on film doing that kind of stuff and being killed and all. This is one of Chicho Ibaņez Serrador's best films, I am a bit surprised it's being remade, and I am not looking forward to the remake, mainly because it would suck balls just like any other remake out there.

Meh, remake in my mind means faster action (compared to the turtle-slow action of the first), less plot holes, ect ect.

A remake of this film would be downright offensive. It was slow, but slow doesn't always mean bad unless you're a member of the ADD generation. The film was masterfully directed and took it's time to build up tension and character in the first hour, like most great horror films do. It was never intended to be a high octane thriller.

Gay they can't even call it the same because the MPAA would have a field day with it. This is gonna suck... I pass and stick with my R2 version of the original.

Damn and I thought I was the only person who liked this movie. I also thought The House that Screamed was a decent movie by Serrador.

I actually hope they do make a remake of this movie not because I think it needs it but in the hopes a better DVD of the original would come out to kinda get people to see the remake. The only DVD I could find of the original kinda sucks. You know Hollywood is gonna change the ending if they really do remake this.

Anybody else notice that it had Lewis Fiander from Dr.Phibes Rises Again in it?

I doubt it's the MPAA, but more the marketing department of whoever is making the film. When a title sounds like that (Who Can Kill A Child), the masses think it's probably a low budget crapfest.

I mean, think of it now. Would you go see a movie called The Babysitter Murders? I'd think it was the name of a DTV shit-horror, but in fact it could have been Halloween.

I think "Who can Kill a Child?" is catchy, how many titles are actual questions??? I think it's perfect for the film and what the characters go through. In the Playground almost sounds like a porno... and cannot see (unless they have changed the whole plot) how it relates with the plot of the original.
I just wish people would leave movies the way they are and come up with their own ideas, who isn't tired of remakes already?
