It's a fun watch. Lame humor, but the gore gags were kick ass.

I thought this movie was great... good gore and shit, but the dude from Grandma's Boy made the movie for me... just seein' him play somethin' different was funny.

I just got done watching it and I thought it was pretty damn good slasher movie. I mean the story and the acting could of been better. Only thing was enjoy was victor killing those people. The gore death scenes were bad ass and brutal.

8/10

It wasn't that good. But it was as close to a F13th we've seen in ages. A sequel could improve on the concept.

Galerian
12-20-2007, 03:25 PM
Yeah, I thought it'd be better with all the hype for it but it turned out to be kind of mediocre. Except for the kills which were cool. It could definitely be improved upon with a sequel.

And Victor Crowley looked like a baked potato.

thorn_man
12-20-2007, 11:53 PM
I picked it up. Got a stupid little key chain with it. Anyway, the story is nothing original obviously, but who was honestly looking for that?

The extras were pretty neat, and it looks like they want to turn it into a "F13" type movie chain for the 21st century, and make Victor Crowley an icon. I could see this happening, I think it'd be kinda cool.

Knight

If it would have had a better pace instead of wasting a bunch of time at the beginning and had dropped most of the lame ass 'comedy' then it could have been a bit better.

At least it didn't have a bunch of shaky-cam crap and the gore effects were nice and old school brutal. I'll give it a few points for those aspects.

DrSatan

It was a dumbass slasher movie and in that it succeeded.

As much as i waited for Hatchets release, i was let down.
god it was horrible.

yes i agree that the gore was nicely shoved down my throat.
but if the acting in a movie doesn't win me over, then i'm done.

actually, i don't agree with your opinion...there are many horror movies with great acting.

- you were a bit broad with your statement

Horror movies with 'great acting' are the exception, not the rule.

The fact is, most of the horror genre is comprised of low budget movies with no-name actors who pull off, at best, tolerable performances.

Not sure what made you believe a shitty slasher movie called 'Hatchet' was supposed to 'win you over' with it's Oscar-worthy performances.

If the resident "cynical bastard" found this movie amusing, that's enough of an endorsement for me... gonna rent, download, and/or buy this fucker sometime soon.*

I thought it was good. Good kills, and I thought the acting was alright. It wasn't TOO bad. I mean damn, you guys make it sound like it was the worst acting ever. Wrong Turn 2 had much worse acting. The woman looking for her dad and brother was good I thought. But,

SPOILERS

When she first shot his ass and he fell out, all she had to do was go up and shoot him in the head about 4 more times, boom, I doubt his fat ass would be gettin back up. Not only this, but there was so many times they could have finished him off but they ran away. Then they fucking STOPPED, and had a little chit chat every time they got away from him. Kinda pissed me off a little bit. I would have at least cut his legs off so he couldnt chase me.

Other than that, pretty good. Crowley looked freaky. I think the ending was alright. Left it to your imagination I guess.

I thought it was alright but nothing spectacular. The acting was pretty damn bad, and the characters were just plain annoying - including Victor Crowley. The "humor" just got on my nerves - it was completely unfunny in my opinion. The only thing I found redeemable was the gore. Meh. 6/10 - I've still seen a hell of a lot worse.

Hehe, you have no idea the hours I have spent in the dark corners of stores, rummaging through bargin bins and forgotten sections to find movies that aren't the recent hollywood dribble (most things made in the last 10 years) or remakes.

Still, anyone who is ignorant enough to make general statements like that either really has no idea about movies or hit that 'submit post' button without reading what they typed. Judging by your posting history, I'll go with the second choice...but come on now.

I love it when people hide behind the cliched ass 'it's my opinion!' or 'everyone has different tastes!' line.

Here's a few of my opinions

- Anyone who complains about acting in shitty, low-budget slasher movies like 'Hatchet' is borderline tool.

- Rush Hour 3 and Resident Evil 3 are garbage and anyone who owns them has absolutely no right to criticize the 'taste' of others.

Deal with it.

Got no great love for the RE flicks, but they seem to be popular views for those that borrow it. Maybe its some hard-on thing for girls with short hair or something. *shrug* Don't exactly hate the series, but definately not something I watch often.

Rush hour 3. Yep, that was one of my picks, not that my taste in comedy has any impact on my tastes in horror. I enjoy the rush hour series because I view it sort of like a modern day lethal weapon of the 'odd couple' cop partnership setup.

Everyone has a few movies in their 'my picks' lists that make others laugh. Its unavoidable. We could go down your movie history, but the point doesn't need it. End of the day, generalized statements state only ignorance and stupidity. :drunks:

Let me know if you have anything of actual value to say about 'good acting' and the horror genre.
