Ok, so I saw this last night and am on the fence about it. As much as I enjoyed John Cusack's wonderful performance, the whole thing puzzled me. I'm still not quite sure what was happening there at the end. Still an entertaining popcorn flick. 7/10 thoughts?

I saw the ending where he dies, but I didn't really understand the last part with Sam Jackson in the car. He told Cusack's wife that the room was safe and could be reopened.....BUT then he's sees the ghost in the car. And we cut to Cusack in the room. Does that mean no matter what you do or how you try to destroy it, the room will always be haunted???? I was confused by the ending.

Not really scary, just kind of jolting at times. But yeah, I thought it was really good, John Cusack's a great actor, it's been a few years since he had such an exclusive role. I saw the ending that was in theaters, is it worth renting to see the others?

Also, it was one of those PG-13 horror movies where it didn't feel like they were really struggling for the PG-13 instead of prospering from an R rating, like in Live Free or Die Hard.

Am I the only one who thought this movie was boring? The ending was cool, but I almost fell asleep in the theatre. Meanwhile, my friend was jumping every 10 seconds. I don't get it?

Thats the same ending I saw. How does the book end? I liked this movie and I was interested and waiting to see what happened next.I'm glad I bought this flick. 7.5/10

i'm pretty sure in the book he lives..i'm not a 100%
but i liked it, and john cusack played his role brilliantly

In the Short Story he does survive, except he just lights himself on fire and the room lets him out, some guy dumps his bucket of ice on him to put it out. There's none of that dead daughter shit in the story either, and it only mentions that him and his wife are split and that's all on the matter. There aren't that many similarities between the Short Story and the film.
