Anyone else pick this up yet? There is a 5-disc collector's set as well, but disc 5 is the workprint. It's non-essential unless you're collector. 4 disc set contains the theatrical version of the film, the european version (slightly more violent), the director's cut, and Scotts "Final" version of the film. I haven't watched the "final" version yet so I can't report on it. However, I did watch the extra disc containing a 3 and half hour "making of". It's a must see for fans of this film.

Due to budget, only got the 2 disc version. Not the best, but fills the role well.

A friend of mine loves Blade Runner. One day he showed up drunk on AIM and I linked him to the Amazon page for the 5-disk.

The next day he was $90 poorer and pissed off at me. He also admitted that at least I linked him to something cool.

I dug the movie, but wouldn't really spend a lot of money to watch it again.

Not too big on this movie, but I do like PKD, and the design of the movie is great. Wouldn't pay for it, but I would like to see the documentary.

Ordered the 5 disc bluray last night, haven't seen this movie in at least 10 years.

Every review I have read about this set gave it a 10/10. I need to pick this up.

People bring this up somewhere in conversation year after year, raving about it. I guess I need to see it. Which would you say is the best? European version, final cut, theatrical version?

I haven't watched the final cut yet, but I would say watch the theatrical version, and then watch the director's cut (different than the final cut).

The two are vastly different in feel and in meaning. The theatrical version contains voice over, which I personally don't like. since the director's cut, I find it extremely difficult to watch the theatrical version. European version is the theatrical version with a very brief extension on a couple of scenes.

This movie is easily one of the best movies ever made across the board and is essential viewing.

This is one of those movies you have to watch, dispite your feelings for the movie, just so you know wtf everyone is talking about. Love it, hate it, you got to understand why its a classic.

Great set. Couldn't bring myself to pony up almost twice as much for the briefcase, though...

Twice the price for the briefcase and the workprint? Agreed. No need. The rest is essential though.

I have the 5-disc LE Briefcase set. As stated above, it includes the Workprint version of the film, as well as origami Unicorn, model Spinner car, 3D motion film clip, and rare art folio. Apparently, only 103,000 of these Briefcase Sets were made (which is based of the sticker found on the bottom of the briefcase). I own #43699/103000

Only 103,000?

I'm only basing it on what I found on the Briefcase. That's how mine is numbered.

I hear you, man, it's just the notion of anything being "limited" to 100,000+...

:mhehe:

That briefcase is friggin' class though. I'm a sucker for kewl DVD packages. If I liked the film that much I could see shelling out the dough for it. Perhaps I should give it another go around...

I actually pre-ordered mine from Amazon when I first heard about it this past summer. At that time, I got it for $54 with free shipping. Some stores did have it after it was released but in very limited qualities (basically only 1 in the entire store). If you're a sucker for these spiffy Collector Sets, I would pick it up. As I said in a previous post, if you thinking about getting this, get it now. Apparently, they only made 103,000 of these sets, which I didn't know at the time of pre-ordering. This is located on the very bottom of the briefcase.

Also, it's available in HD-DVD and Blu-Ray.
