So Wildcard Weekend was hit and miss in terms of good games as usual IMO.
Saturday games were pretty decent. Sunday games a whole lotta nothing.
Next week, im looking forward to atleast 3 games. Obviously the Jags/Pats because they havent seen each other since last season so that game will probably be close and both teams will feel each other out but if the Pats can get up by a couple of scores. Im not sure Garrard can lead them back to the promised land but if its close and they can run it, obviously it will be a very close game.
Dallas/NY and SEA/GB will both be good games IMO.
SD/Indy I just dont see as ever being close even though it was close when they played this season with Mannings 6 int fiasco. Nevertheless, Indy should be healthier and I dont care what anyone says. Put the ball in Rivers hands and I dont trust him with the game on the line or down in a game. He needs LT as much as anyone on that team does IMO. If LT CAN have a big game, maybe they can steal it. However a shootout, no way.

The NFL would love it if Favre, Manning and Brady were all out of the playoffs. Imagine the huge ratings the SB would get...:mhehe:
steelba
01-07-2008, 03:22 PM
Well we know Manning or Brady will for a fact be out of the SB. But 4 Int's for Favre and 6 Int's for Peyton isn't very likely. Plus Rivers 3 td's & no Int's/ Hasselbeck with 4 TD's 0 int's, is not very believable imo. They both have been turning the ball over regularly.
Detective John Kimble
01-07-2008, 03:30 PM
All three of those teams are due for breakout games. The only chance GB has is if Ryan Grant has a huge game. If not, I expect Hassleback to light up what is a Defense thats been plastered twice by the woeful Bears.
San Diego has matched up well with Indy in recent memory. I think LT will run all over the Freeneyless Colts and Manning will be throwing picks like candy to a bunch of kids.
Jacksonville will beat NE in NE. Brady will throw 5 picks and Garrard will move the ball up and down the field on quite frankly what is an overrated team up in the Northeast. When that game is said and done. People will be losing a boatload of money all around the country IMO.
NFC Champ = SEA/Dallas
AFC Champ = JAX/SD

How can you be overrated at 16-0?
Detective John Kimble
01-07-2008, 03:44 PM
They're overrated because they play in a weakass division. Look at the Seahawks. They play in the 3rd toughest division in football behind the AFC South and NFC East.
If the Pats played in the NFC East, they would go 8-8 year after year IMO.

The Rams, Cards and Niners sucked this year, as well as the Jets and Fins. But the Bills were above average. I dont think you watched a single football game this year. In the large scale the AFC is better then the NFC.
Detective John Kimble
01-07-2008, 04:25 PM
The NFC is creeping up though. They have alot of premiere QB's for the future.
Leinart - potential probowler and possible leader of a wildcard team in the coming years.
Romo - dating the hottest girl in Dallas, probaby gonna go to the bowl.
Jason Campbell - will probably eclipse Favre in career starts when its all said and done.
Eli Manning - better mechanics than his brother Peyton and more favorable intangibles.
David Carr - starting QB for Carolina next year.
Whoever Atlanta drafts at QB or acquires will surely be better than the ultra overrated Vick. Vince Young is a better QB than Vick.
Pats 31, Jags 13
Colts 24, Bolts 26
Dallas 21, Giants 24
Seattle 16, Green Bay 27
LOCK EM IN!

01-07-2008, 07:12 PM
The pats have beating a bette Jax defense before with a shittier offense.
I understand that the Pats play in a weakass division, but one of the teams is decent (Bills) and lets count it, the Pats beat, Dallas and Indy both 5-0 and 7-0 going into those games.
Beat the Giants, Chargers, Steelers, Washington, that is 6 playoff teams.
Jacksonville has a shot to beat NE, Im not going to say they have none, but I certainly will say Brady won't throw 5 INT.
Manning won't throw 6 INT, and they win against the Chargers easily.
I think, unless the Packs fall completely apart, hand Seattle a loss because I bet Hasselback tries and gives away the game like he tried this past weekend.
The Giants can beat the Cowboys, simply because I think Romo is like Rex, he will fold under this pressure Im sure of it, if not against the Giants definitley in the SB.

Ok for starters nobody is gonna take Alexander for any draft pick, he is washed up. I'm the only Seahawks fan on this board and i'll be the first to admit he's finished. We should just cut him, but I know that wont happen. So hopefully he atleast has a 1,000 yd rushing season next year, but ofcoarse he wont. Atleast resign Morris, so when Shaun fizzles again we can get some production from the RB position.

Jason Campbell is average at best right now. If he wasn't on a team without a QB, he'd never be a starter.
Comparing Eli to Peyton AT ALL is ridiculous. Eli had an awful season (although he's played great the last 2 weeks) and he hasn't shown that he'll definitely be a superstar. Wait until he can piece together 4 or 5 straight good games before you start favorably comparing him to Peyton.
David Carr stinks. He sucked with Houston and he's not going to get much better, if at all.

Ever since that foot injury he suffered last year his running style has become kind of gimped. I don't thinke he ever regained his step back because I personally think he runs differently than he did pre-injury.
That long term deal is a sinker in seattle, but if they want Chicago has a running back they can have.

Pats in the NFC anywhere, is like Johan Santana pitching in the N.L. it wouldn't be fair at all.
The way I would look at it, is from 2001-2008 the Pats have been one of the best, and if not best team in the league. Imagine if they played in the NFC, where the competition is deluded, and not nearly as good. Same thing for the Colts, I think undfeated seasons would be a norm and not a rarety if that was the case.

odd thing to say since over the last 10 years 1998-2008
it has gone like this
1998: Denver (AFC)
1999: Denver (AFC)
2000: St.Louis (NFC)
2001: Baltimore (AFC)
2002: New England (AFC)
2003: Tampa Bay (NFC)
2004: New England (AFC)
2005: New England (AFC)
2006: Pittsburgh (AFC)
2007: Indianapolis (AFC)
so in the last 10 years (which i would qualify as an over the years period) the afc has won 8 and the nfc 2??? pretty weak.
it hurts to looks at this as an NFC fan. The AFC just aint that weak. I dont think the jags will beat the pats. not to say it cant happen though. But you should really back up your opinion.

it hurts to looks at this as an NFC fan. The AFC just aint that weak. I dont think the jags will beat the pats. not to say it cant happen though. But you should really back up your opinion.
Who do you cheerlead for?
The Pats? The Colts? The Bungles?
The fact is the NFC is far and away the better conference despite those SB losses. By cross sport comparison in the 90s when Jordan was off in retirement land. The West won all of the titles outside of the years Jordan wasnt playing. Just like in the NFL. Outside of the years in which the Pats, Steelers, Colts and Broncos and Ravens didnt make the playoffs. The NFC won all the bowls.

you are right overall. 21 nfc wins to 20 afc wins in the superbowl. pretty close overall though seeing as they both have gone through dominant periods. with the afc most likely tieing the score this year. althought miami and the raiders have won a couple too. in the nfc it is pretty localized as well with GB, Dallas, SF, washington, ny giants, st louis, and tampa. so 7 teams afc, 7 teams nfc have all won the superbowl and that is it.

Eli will play better than Romo cuz Jessica Simpson will be at the game. Even though I picked the Cowboys, I expect Eli to have a great game but fall short because Romo's team is far and away better and good enough to carry him through his mistakes if Simpson is there.

I really dont expect the Jags to win. They wont be able to shut down the Pats passing attack,I'ts just to easy for them score when they want. You are going to need to match them score for score and there are only two teams that are capable of doing that IMO.

Jags played a really good game.
Garrard showed me something. He made some throws under pressure. He made a couple mistakes that probably cost his team a chance. But its not his fault if the recievers drop two TD's.
Nice win for the Pats but im sorry. The run defense looked like garbage for a team thats had some time to relax. Some of that was the execution of the Jags running game and some of it was poor tackling. That said, MJD is a baller. Everytime he touched the ball, it looked like he said could bulldoze right through the defense.
Gotta shore some things up for the AFC Championship game next week. Especially if its Indy again.

Frankly that game would have been down to the final 2 minutes if the Jaguars recievers didn't have feet for hands..

.
I think part of that was some poor execution and part the fact that it is just that hard to keep that rushing duo down. Jags had a legit chance tonight. Their passing attack just isn't there.
That and perhaps the Jags sticking to that bend but not break philsophy for too long on D played into it. Brady could throw those under routes all day.

lol at run defense looking bad.
in fact, it was very good.
I think, everyone knew, that the Pats would give up the running yards and make Garrad beat them with the arm.
Maroney was the best back tonight, and that should tell you something.
the Jags played a very good game, and it only makes the Pats better instead of coasting into next week, they had to earn it.
Im not worried about the run game, it's the pass game Im worried about, WR were wide open all night, and Manning will eat that up, Rivers not so much, but Manning killed the Pats last time they played, the underneath stuff is there for the taking, and if there as open as they were tonight, Id be worried about being able to stop the Colts offense.
But, not that it really matters but it doesn't hurt is the game will be in Foxboro, so that doesn't help the Colts much.
Jags played good, kept the game honest and it worked out well for everyone, assuming your a Pat fan.

Your being ignoront to the truth man, Seau would of finished his career in SD if they didn't cut him, and that was a mistake, because he has been a productive player ever since, he retired last year when he was cut by a shitty Miami team, and Belechick called him and personally talked him into joining the team.

Green Bay looks really good going into the NFC championship. Even against Dallas, that would be quite a matchup, Favre may not have a good record when playing Dallas at home but his veteranship against Romo's youth might be the true edge.. Ryan Grant really picked up after that poor start so kudos to him, maybe Benson could learn something..

No surprise. Mike Holgrem should be embarassed knowing the same QB he helped groom into a halfway decent passer has the refs in his backpockets with paychecks.

You can't actually believe the stupid shit that brews in that thick skull of yours. Every team that loses lost because of the refs. The best QB in the league is apparently worse than a QB that's a couple of levels below him. The refs let Ryan Grant go for 201 yards and 3 TDs. They also enabled Brady to go 26-28 and have a 93% completion percentage. Moron.

Pretty simple.
Horribly officiated game with a bunch of phantom calls and what looks like afew makeup calls along the way.
I picked the Colts. If they can get out of their own way, they can win. Likewise if Rivers can continue to play well after coming back, SD has a chance.

Why the hell would John Lynch care? He won his Super Bowl..he doesn't have to ride coat tails like Junior Seau does.
Junior Seau is no better than Karl Malone and Gary Payton when they went to the Lakers to ride coat tails. I hope that his fate is the same as theirs. He gets denied the title he couldn't get when he was at his peak..now he's banking on other stars at their peak to carry him to one.
Really now? He picked Denver over NE because they offered more money.
How did Robert Horry treat ya? Suppose its differnt because he already had some rings, but leaving a sinking ship to join a champ team is the same no matter how you look at it.
Not to mention, Seau is a starter man, a productive one too. Practices as hard as anyone, he isn't counting on anyone to win it for him.

The refs tried to give Manning a handjob all the way through the game today but under the leadership of a future HOF coach in Norv Turner. He led his team to victory with Rivers goin off for a rediculous good game. Outperforming Manning with LT rushing for over 150 yards.
Unfortunately their season ends next week because the refs are already at dinner together with Belecheck and Brady to discuss how their gonna screw over the Chargers next week.

The Jags played hard but were outdone by too many interior and exterior factors. Those being the Pats and the refs and the outdoor weather.
Who do you cheerlead for?
1. Packers
2. Cowboys
3. Giants
4. Pats
5. Chargers
Everyone knows especially this postseason that the NFL wanted to rig Pats/Colts but they fell flat on their asses in atleast one area. The potential failure will be complete next week if the Chargers win and Shawn MVP Merriman does the dirty dance on the Pats logo and LT walks into the SB as the class guy that he is.
Colts 24, Bolts 26

That game today was clearly an indication of how poor NFL officiating is today. The Colts had the entire staff in the huddle with them whenever Manning attempted to throw the ball. It was a disaster and even Norv knew it.
Why do you think he went bezerko out there today cuz he knew he was gonna get the shortend of the money in terms of officiating.

Both GB and NYG have a chance against NE if NE makes it to the bowl.
However with the way Indy played today. Allowing the Chargers backups to drive up and down the field on them during some stretches of the game. I dunno if the team I saw had a chance to come up here and win if they struggled vs. a team minus Gates, LT and Rivers.
Inexcusible IMO. Chargers will be probably give NE a much better game after what I saw today IMO.
